I have gotten that far but the seat won't budge. I've looked underneath and see no fasteners. Any idea's?

  • fuevo1 Sep 08, 2009

Yeah, they are the right bolts, the seat will move a little for and aft but not up. No rust or anything like that. I don't get it . I've removed MANY seats with the same configuration, I've been a full time auto tech for over 20 years just to let you know.

I was just letting you know that you weren't dealing with your typical nimrod, no offense taken. I did however find that vigorous rocking finally disconnected the two pins that project down from the rail centers into the floor pan and it did come out. Thanx for your help.

    Yes, very helpful. Thanx

Move the seat all the way up, there will be 2 plastic covers with 2 bolts under, remove thse bolts, move the seat back, remove the back two bolts and covers, unplug any wires going into the seat, remove seat, looks rough but prety simple.

have you tried sitting in the seat an using your legs to push you back, it might just be stuck from years on not being removed. and your sure you got the 4 retaining bolts? did someone along the way weld this thing in?

I belive you when you say you got the bolts out, and also that it will rock a bit, i just dont get it either, I have done plenty of those and they lift right out. is the seat belt holding it down, or could it be too tight against the center console? I didnt mean to imply ignorance especially to a felow tech my apologies.

If you can hear the seat motor working, and the seat will not move back and is only affecting one side, there is a very good
chance that an object is resting in or on the seat rail, and is preventing the seat to move. You may have a coin stuck in the track, or possibly another small object. It may be difficult to see. I have seen this problem many times, and each time, there was always something blocking the seat movement....coins were number one.

How to remove front passenger side seat

Always disable the air bag system first, to prevent accidental deployment of the air bags. The main airbag module is beneath carpeting under passengers seat. To remove passengers seat, At the rear of the seat remove the two bolts securing the tracks to the floor, tilt the seat up and towards the instrument panel, unplug any electrical connectors beneath and remove the seat. the front plastic track covers can remain in place while the seat track tabs are lifted out of the slots on the floor. ( caution disable airbag before removing the seat ) Good-Day! Hope this helps you!

On a 2006 volvo v50 the passenger front seat light indicates that the air bag is off

poosibly the seatbelt buckle clip on the side of the seat, if they have been tampered with or faulty, it can cause air bag 'issues'

1999 volvo s80 passenger seat stuck in forward position

you will need to check to make sure no coins fell into the track and is jammed it if not you will need to replace the bottom frame of the seat possible with a junk yard one much cheaper than buying new and junkyard frames come complete.

Passenger side air bag alert

lol sometimes check the car manual, its a security device for when children sits in front, when the weight is not high enough on the passenger seat (i.e. child) it turns off the airbag so the kid wouldnt be hurt by the airbag in case of an accident
