I had a 1998 explorer ltd. The door in the airbox broke. this door changes the direction of airflow. On the airbox, behind the console you can see the pivot point. see if the door moves. I had to drill a hole in the box and hook a wire(coat hanger) up to open and close the door (driving from ny to chicago in the winter, i needed defroster and heat). Fortunately the dealer replaced the whole box for me under warranty, there was a service tip out in 99 or 2000 about this. doubt it's a vacuum hose. you need to remove the dash to get the box out. good luck

My ac throws air threw the front vents sometimes

The default position is the defrosters. It takes vac to move the blend doors to the floor and dash vents. You may have a leak somewhere in the system or another blend door that is sticking. Could also be a problem with the selector but I doubt it.

Leaks gear 90 oil by the throw out bearing on my 1999 ford f350 2 wheel drive dually diesel

The only gear oil near the throw-out bearing would be in the transmission and the only way to the throw-out bearing is out the transmission front bearing retainer. I would check the vent first. It's on the transmission top. If that's free you'll have to remove the transmission and front bearing retainer to check the front bearing and seal.

The air from the vents is either hot or cold not much in between. This is on a 1998 Explorer. When on automatic the hot air comes on at about 72 degrees and will not cut off. Then when you turn it down it...

sounds like a blend door concern

the blend door is controlled by the EATC

inside the blend door is a potentiometer
I've seen this fail often

however, you will need to follow a few specific tests to correctly diagnose

good shotgun guess is the blend door actuator but I don't like to throw parts at it unless I know for sure!
