Power locks intermittently quick working. I pull IOD fuse, replace it, & locks work again for a bit. It's annoying because each time I pull the fuse, I have to reset clock and such. Is there a more permanent fix?

This is a common issue with the 2005 Caravan. To fix the issue you can disconnecting your battery or disconnect the IOD fuse for 10 - 30 seconds in the fuse box located in the engine compartment. This is not a permant fix. Inorder to get this fixed permantly you need to take it to a dealer so they can update your computer.
Under the hood on the drivers side is a fuse panel. Remove the top and locate the IOD fuse. Remove the fuse and look to make sure it's not blown. If it's ok simply replace it and locks should return to normal. If the fuse is blown you will need another 10 amp mini fuse to replace it.
2004-2005 CARAVANS HAD A SOFTWARE ISSUE IN BODY CONTROLLER FOR THIS CONCERN..IF YOU REMOVE THE IOD FUSE FOR 10 SECONDS AND REINSTALL IT,THIS IS A TEMPORARY FIX..YOU MOST LIKELY NEED A BODU CONTROLLER UPDATED..TAKES ABOUT 1/2 TO 1 HOUR TO DO..AS FAR AS I KNOW,THE DEALER IS THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN DO IT..I HOPE THIS HELPS
2004-2005 CARAVANS HAD A SOFTWARE ISSUE IN THE BODY CONTROLLER..REMOVING AND REINSTALLING IOD FUSE IN UNDERHOOD FUSEBLOCK..THERE IS A SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THE BODY CONTROLLER FROM CHRYSLER..TAKES ABOUT AN HOUR TO COMPLETE..AS FAR AS I KNOW,THEY ARE ONLY ONES WHO CAN DO THIS
IF YOU CONSULT YOUR OWNER'S MANUAL,YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO RESET THIS FEATURE..BUT IF YOUR LOCKS WERE NOT WORKING AT ALL..THERE IS A SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR YOUR BODY CONTROLLER FOR INOPERATIVE LOCKS..AS FAR AS KNOW,CHRYSLER DEALER IS ONLY ONE ABLE TO DO THIS..REMOVING AND REINSTALLING IOD FUSE IS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX..THEY CAN ALSO RESET YOUR ROLLING DOOR LOCKS AFTER THEY UPDATE YOUR BCM..I HOPE THIS HELPS
A short term fix is to pull the IOD fuse, wait about 10 seconds then replace it again. You'll have to reset your clock, which is annoying but the locks will work again. In the past 3 days, I've had to pull this twice because my locks quit--Hoping to find a more permanent solution.
2005 caravan's had software issue with power door lock operation..the body controller may need a software update..check with local dodge dealer to see if service bulletin applies to your vehicle..have seen body controller problems as well
the door locks are controlled by the body computer and one of the switches may be bad. When you pull the fuse you are clearing the computer codes and the locks work fine until that switch acts up. once the computer sets a code for a shorted or stuck switch all switch inputs are ignored until you pull the fuse and reset everything. Could also be a bad wire to the switch or a bad computer.
I just had this problem tonight, did a Yahoo search and happened on this site, just tried pulling the IOD fuse (located in the covered panel next to the battery BTW), and re-installed it, and everything works again. Thanks for the tip!
