Question about Chevrolet S 10
By a/c compressor is broken. I want to bypass compressor with shorter serpentine belt just to be able to drive again. Is this possible?
Sometimes there is a bracket and pulley that replaces the compressor and you use the same belt. check at your auto parts store.

There is a company that makes a pulley and bracket that replaces the compressor. I can't remember where I saw it online but you can do some research and find them. If you attempt to go with the shorter belt, you will need to see if there was a non-A/C version of your engine and use that system...problem with most vehicles is that a/c has gone from being an option to being standard...in doing this, pump removal generally causes the new belt to interfere with other items and can give you a real headache trying to overcome that. Other option if you are good with metal work and welding is to find an idler pulley and make a bracket for it to mount in place of the a/c compressor, or find a compressor that is internally failed with a good clutch and install it and just not make the electrical connections.

Just in case:
If the a/c compressor pulley still spins...
The pulley is idling anyway and not consuming measureable power. Disconnect the clutch wire at the compressor.
It wil spin freely like an idle pulley.
This may save you a few bucks....
