My 95 Honda Passport won't start

I turn the key and ''nothing''- it's not the battery-could it be the starter?

If you don't hear a click when you turn key to Start, check that the small wire onto the starter solenoid has a good connection. If you do hear the click, check that the large wire going between solenoid and battery has good connections..hope this helps.

I'm not familiar with your particular car, but in general, the starter motor is usually bolted onto the backend of the motor, in front of the gearbox. It is cylindrical with a smaller cylindrical part attached to it(about 1/2 size of starter). The smaller cylindrical part is the starter solenoid, it should have 2 large terminals with wires bolted onto them and one small wire going to a push on terminal. If the small wire is loose, or has a bad contact, when you turn the key to start nothing will happen. On most cars you can usually see it and reach from above enough to give small wire a wiggle, although most are more accessable from below. I hope this helps..

SOURCE: i have a 95 buick-new

The starter is where the engine joins the gearbox, usually on the engine side. Check that he wiring it connected at the starter and the ingnition switch. Make sure the battery terminals are good and clean and tight. Otherwise the starter solinoid may be faulty, or the starter itself.

firstly have a load test done on the battery as an attempt to turn over indicates a faulty battery. Next as it is an EFI engine any pumping of the accelerator only adds to your frustration as it does nothing to the starting ability. What you need to do is have the fault codes read and fix what shows up as faulty

Honda crv 04' key won't turn over & I'm stranded

if your battery isnt dead (try boosting it) then check to make sure the car is in park all the way and try again if nothing happens you need a new starter. alot of people dont put the shifter all the way back to park and that keeps it from starting.

If you here a clicking noise when you turn key, starter motor could be duff.
If no clicking noise solenoid possibly not working. Check wiring and current to solenoid and starter motor first.

Your starter solenoid is bad. It comes with a new starter. Replace the starter and your problem should go away.

96 passport batt good starter getting power just

Have you tried bypassing the ignition? Turn the key to the on position and cross the starter terminals with a screwdriver. If it starts then you will need a new ignition or possibly a new ignition module.

first check the battery, should have at least 10.43 volts under a load for about 10 to 15 seconds, are the cable ends clean and tight and corrosion free, is the ground cable connected to a good ground and is it frayed or partially cut anywhere. also how old is the battery, 4 or 5 years old, it may be time to change it. If all of the above is good, then its a good possibilty you need a new starter. two factors here, the age of the vehicle and the milage, if it is high. most japanese models, especially hondas will make a click at the starter and solenoid if the starter is defective, but only one click each time the key is turned. good luck and let me know if you have any other problems. thanks
