If you can not get a code scanner to work, it has a blown fuse. The diagnostic port shares the fuse with the cigarette lighter and is usually a 15 amp fuse. It is a common problem.

YOU NEED TO GET THE CODE PULLED FROM THE ECM. THIS WILL TELL YOU WHY IT IS NOT RUNNING AS WELL AS IT USED TO. IT MORE THAN LIKELY IS ONE OF YOUR O2 SENSORS. THESE ARE LOCATED IN YOUR EXHAUST PIPES AND COMMUNICATE THE STATE OF EXHAUST GASSES TO YOUR ECM SO THAT THE ECM CAN MAKE NESSESCARY ADJUSTMENTS TO ACCHIEVE OPTIMUM EFFIENCENCY. YOU CAN GO TO A SHOP TO GET CODE OR BUY A DECENT CODE SCANNER AT ONE OF YOUR LOCAL PARTS STORES FOR AROUND $70.00.

Try disconnecting the battery for 2 hours. Then drive for 10 miles so the PCM can relearn. It may run rough for 10 miles.
