Question about 2004 Honda CR-V

1 Answer

Could someone please tell me what the coloured tail light wires respond to on a 2004 honda crv. eg white = earth , yellow = right blinker. Or even where i could locate a wiring diagram for this vehicle. Thanks

    I have purchased a Repco flat 7-pin plug which I would like to use on my bike rack. However, there are only three wires on the round plug which I assume are "light", "stop-light" and earth. The colours of the three wires are red, white and yellow and they do not appear to correspond with the colour code on the Repco 7-pin flat plug - for instance yellow is a turn connection but there are no directional lights on my bike rack. Can you tell me what the three colours represent on my bike rack so that I can put them in the appropriate place on the 7-pin plug. I realise I will have four empty holes but this appears to be the only way I can use my electric bike rack with the 12-pin plug on my vehicle. I would really appreciate you assistance in this matter please. Thanks Roy

THE EASIEST WAY TO FIGURE OUT WHICH WIRE DOES WHAT IS TO USE A TEST LIGHT . ATTACH A TEST LIGHT TO A MATEL SURFACE NEAR THE TAIL LIGHTS, THEN REMOVE YOUR DIRECTIONAL BULB, TURN ON YOUR DIRECTIONAL AND CAREFULLU TOUCH THE TESTLIGHT TO ONE OF THE TWO CONTACTS IN THE RECEPTICLE THEN WRITE DOWN THE COLOR OF THE COROSPONDING WIRE THAT TRIGGERS THE LIGHT.

Turn on the tail lights and using a test light check to find the existing power wire.
Find the wire that goes to on pin for the bulb and connect together . Next check another wire with some one applying the brakes . find another wire that goes to another pin for the bulb and connect that up . using a multimeter check that the last wire is connected to the bulb socket as an earth. and connect that up to the last wire . If you have a dull stop light then reverse the two power wires

Fitting single towbar electrics, Hyundai Coupe 2.0 2004 (Tiburon)

Hi There. Im not sure where you are but this is the sequence for the UK< Hope it helps.
here are the 7 cable locations and pin numbers.
Pin 1 Yellow L/H Direction Indicator
Pin 2 Blue Rear Fog Lamps
Pin 3 White Earth Return
Pin 4 Green R/H Direction Indicator
Pin 5 Brown R/H Tail & No, Plate Light
Pin 6 Red Stop Lamps
Pin 7 Black L/H Tail & No, Plate Lights

I found the easiest way to locate the correct wires in the loom is to turn on the lights required and use a circuit tester and splice into the main loom where you have enough wire to play with. Try not to cut the loom as it only causes more problems with bad connections and joins.(
Good Luck

Hi there,

Here is a cheat sheet I compiled that you will find very helpful:

Plug Types/Application
7 Way - RV Trailers, Horse and Utility Trailers
6 Way - Horse, Stock and Utility
4 Way - Utility Trailers

Columns are Color, Function, Mark on the plug.

Seven wire Trailer plugs
:

Horse, stock or utility trailers:
White = Ground - 1
Blue = Electric Brakes - 2
Brown = Tail and clearance lights - 3
Black = Battery, aux power - 4
Yellow = Left turn/Brake - 5
Green = Right turn Brake - 6
Orange or Purple (not both) = Auxilliary or Reverse - 7

Recreational Vehicle:
White = Ground - 1
Blue = Electric Brakes - 2
Green = Tail and clearance lights - 3
Black = Battery, aux power - 4
Red = Left turn/Brake - 5
Brown = Right turn Brake - 6
Yellow = Auxilliary or Reverse - 7

Six wire trailer plugs:

Horse, stock or utility trailers:
White = Ground - GD
Yellow = Left turn/Brake -LT
Green = Right turn Brake -RT
Brown = Tail and clearance lights - TM
Red or Black (not both) = Battery, aux power - A
Blue = Electric Brakes - S

Recreational Vehicle: (color, use, plug mark)
White = Ground - GD
Yellow = Not used -
Brown = Right turn Brake - RT
Green = Tail and clearance lights -TM
Black = Battery, aux power - A
Red = Left turn/Brake - LT
Blue = Electric Brakes - S

Four wire plugs:
White = Ground
Yellow = Left turn/Brake
Green = Right turn Brake
Brown = Tail and clearance lights

Ground should be 10ga.
Others 14 ga

Best regards
Mike
