Question about 1993 Mazda MX-6

1 Answer

Valve cover gaskets, now it wont run

I have a 93 mazda mx-6 v-6,me and a buddy changed the valve cover gaskets, in order to take off the rear valve cover you have to take off the intake manifold.we repalced the gaskets and plugged everything up to where they go. i also bought new spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. we got the car to idle normal with all cylinders.5/6 cylinders have a white color on the tips of the spark plugs. the second day i woke up and the engine rotates but does not start, sometimes it would feel like it would start then stop, and continue to rotate.

You need to get the timing checked, did you mark the position of the distributor before you took it off. If not you might be slightly off with the new distrib.

I have a 93 mazda mx6 just changed the rear brakes they seem to be a little squishy and my e-brake is not working now

did you bleed the brakes? it may take several attempts to get them done completly. and was it the rear brakes you replaced? did you remember to hook the spring back up, or put the brakes back together wrong?

I have 94 miata with oil leak in back of the engine looks like it's coming from the right side somewhere

If I can remember,, check valve cover rubber where it seams with camshaft rubber on rear of cylinder head, the 1/2 moon rubber sits in a concave slot in head itself, usually removed, clean and reuse rubbers with a dab of silicone.

Cylinder order

The firing order on all four cylinder engines is 1.3.4.2. and number one cylinder is at the opposite end of the engine to the gearbox, at the end with the belts and pulleys.
