Dash worning lights

Hi Steve, Which? and do you have an auto box. If the round gear warning is on adjacent to the shift indicator for the auto shift, it means that the gearbox has gone into fail safe mode and will select only the high gears. Regards John

sounds like one of your temperature sensors has failed and there is too much fuel being fed to the engine.

Bmw compact s reg. noisy when turning steering

Look inside the reservoir while the car is running and see if it is low. If it is turn the car off and add power steering fluid. You can purchase at a gas station or parts house. Some people use transmission fluid but it is not a good Idea because it can cetch on fire if you have leak in your power steering system. You can look for leaks when you have someone steer the car fom side to side. Make sure you turn the wheel tight so the whinng is at it's loudest. Check your power steering hoses and rack and pinion, etc. Hope this helps leave a comment.

I drive 3181 N42 02 Reg. I'v been told the car has oil leak, jus yesterday whilst driving I could smell something like burning metal and a particular noise I don't know where it is coming from. Please...

Let an auto tech look at it because one way or the other it's going to end up on some tech's hands. Burning oil smell must be from the valve cover leak and dripping on top of the hot exhaust manifold burning it. The only time I smelled burning metal odor was from a smelting plant. It had an acidic smell that going to put you in tears.

My 1995 Geo Metro 1.3 L leaks a lot of transmission oil. What is the problem?

Faulty oil seal, simple as that, where it is will be for a garage to find.

There are three main oil seals, one each side of the gearbox (CV driveshaft seals) and the other which requires gearbox removal is the torque converter to gearbox oil seal. Hope its not that one!!

PS = I trust the gearbox level is correct and NOT overfilled as this will also happen,. Has anyone recently topped up trans and spilled fluid??

Oil filter housing leak

you may have left out the brass ring. Or put an extra one on there. Go back to the auto parts store. Carefully see what parts are included in the oil filter mechanism and replace them. two O-rings a brass ring and then the oil filter. press down on the top cap and tighten the 10mm bolt, that should seal it.
