I have a Ford Laser Ghia 1990, when I try to start the car, the battery lights go on but there is no ignition? We also have problems with our gear box. would our gear box affect the car by making it not start.... HELP!!!

I think the only way the gear box would affect it from not starting is if it was not shifting into neutral or park. A vehicle needs to be in park or neutral to start.

maybe alternator is stuffed, try gettin it runnin and immediately disconnect battery while ya engine is runnin then if ya engine cuts out that may be your problem.
The clicking is the starter bendix. When you hear the clicking, this almost 100% of the time means that you do not have enough amperage for the bendix to spin the starter gear up and mesh so as to turn over your engine. In other words...your battery is weak. Try this test...If you can jump start the car, you probably need a battery replacement. If your battery is good, however, you may just have poor connection...corrosion etc and need to clean all your connections. Good Luck, Hope this helps!
Hi, On my KF laser I had the same problem but it also stopped the AC and windshield wipers. The fault was a worn ignition. These functions come available when the key goes past the accessory feature. On my car you can jiggle the key back towards the accessory and these work. It has been like this for some time but I have never bothered
If this is a red flashing light beneath the temperature guage it means that you do not have enough coolant. Top up the large white ball shaped reservior at the right hand side of the engine compartment just behind the battery.
