Have a 1996 Celica that is leaking oil and I am not sure where from looks like maybe timing cover but cant find exact spot

give the area a really good clean and try to pinpoint the leak , i'd concentrate on the rocker cover gasket as that is highest point and work way down

1993 Toyota Celica GT oil leak from front of engine block

The most common cause of all oil leaks is the valve cover gasket. The oil drips down from there and covers everything. If your valve cover is leaking, replace it first.

Then the second most common leak in the front of the engine is the crankshaft seal. This seal should have been replaced when the timing belt is replaced as you have everything removed to get to it, and the seal is easy to replace. However if it is not replaced at that time then you will have to remove everything again to access it. The seal is 3 or four dollars, but the labor is two to three hours and you should replace the timing belt, idler pulleys, tensioner and water pump when you are in there, as that will all be removed. Hope this help. Good luck :O)

Oil leak into no2 sparkplug hole missing due to oil. how easy is this to repair?

You need to replace the spark plug tube seals in the valve cover. Very easy once you get the valve cover off. Make sure you get the valve cover gasket kit that includes the tube seals. Victor Reinz makes it: Part number VS50059

Can somebody please tell me how long it should take to replace rocker cover gaskets in a 1998 v6 toyota camry as the quote i have been given seems excessive , thank you, Daz

About 30 mins in total and that is generous.

Breather pipe off
Spark plug cover off
HT leads off
10 screws and the rocker is off. Clean the rocker edge, new gasket, some sealant and refit everything. Repeat for other bank. If I lived nearby I'd do it for a beer :)

My celica is burning oil

Your car is probably burning oil through the piston rings due to wear. The valve cover gasket will show signs of leaking from the space between the valve cover and the head. Remove one of your spark plugs and see if it is black and oily. You can try using a little thicker oil than what you have now or just add a little in as it burns off. Buy a quart of name brand 20w/50 and use that to top off the oil as it burns off. You should notice a difference.

My son just bought his first car, a 1994 Celica GT. slow oil leak around valve cover. bought new Felpro gasket to replace. Slightly too big... is there more than one possible size gasket for the 2.2...

Usually no there is not another size gasket but make sure that you have the correct eng. size and whether the car is EPA or California emissions some toyota parts for some reason depend on this information.
