Question about 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid

1 Answer

Check engine light came on after +/- 1000 miles with less than 1/4 tank of fuel. Gas cap was rechecked. Light does not go out. Vehicle was refueled, and now has close to 1500 miles on it. Light stays on continually, no other problems.

You may be low on oil. If not, you are still under full warranty, so pay a visit to your dealer. If you ignore the warning then you may damage your engine and reduce the life of your vehicle.

P0172 fault code

It could be an emmissions problem. Sometimes even the gas cap being loose can cause a code. Make sure to tighten the cap when done refuelling...you should hear repetitive clicks when its tight. Other components related to code p0172 are o2 sensor(bank 1) and catalytic converters. Hope this helps!

Sounds like you may have picked up some water at last refueling. Drain the tank or just drive the car till you get rid of all the bad fuel. U should go back to where you got the lousy gas and have them reimburse you. I did.

Pump shuts of while refueling

a bad gas cap can cause this or if the vehicle is running while refueling
the evap system can also be malfunctioning causing it to not take fuel, i had the same problem with a 01 cavalier, i found out what the code was for the check engine light and the parts house sold me a gas cap and never had anymore problems. yours may not show check engine light for this problem look at the rubber oring seal on the cap if it is dryrotted then replace it.

SES Light comes on after we refuel vehicle, code is bad gas cap. We replaced the Gas Cap 3 Times. It still comes on after refueling.

this is not just a bad gaas cap code. it is a leak code for the evap system and will need to be tested to find leak. look underneath vehicle and check hoses on the evap canister for cracks or fallen off the canister is next to tank rectangular box. if dont find anything it will need to be "smoke" tested to find the leak

Try filling up a little less. To me it sounds like a vapor lock issue which clears after you burn off the top bit of gas.. Next time you need fuel up be sure to keep track of how much you put in. Another idea is to run the tank down and then only fill up to half a tank. If the problem clears then you know that you're having a vapor issue probably due to gas saturation of the canister (which can happen if you overfill the tank).

Check light went on

The check light indicates an event has occurred that requires your attention. It could be anything from a bad sensor to a plug misfiring.
You need to get an error code readout. You can get a readout from many auto supply parts stores. The loaner meter is free. You can call around. Try Advance Auto, AutoZone e.g.
