Question about 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix

1 Answer

New Battery - Now no power at all. Cables are secure.

When turning the Key I get nothing but some clicks and buzzes under the hood. No headlights no dash lights no interior lights, no nothing. Car was working before I put gas in the tank now nothing. Already replaced the battery after trying to jump the car. Even the jump didn't work.

My 2003 Denali won't start I turn the key and just get a fast clicking noise good battery new starter and all power works

Where's the clicking noise coming from ? Under the dash , under the hood in the engine compartment ? Do starter circuit voltage drop test ! When the key is in start position is there constant B+ voltage at the 10 amp crank fuse in the under hood fuse box ? This is an input to the PCM - engine computer to energize the starter relay ! Starter Voltage Drop The battery is good , starter is new ,what about the cables ? watch this video on testing starter circuit !

Are you saying when you turn the key to start the radio and dome light go off ? That should be normal unless the draw from the starter is too high. The start position only powers the relay-solenoid under the hood.
Do you have full battery power at the starter when the key is in the start position ? Battery cables clean and tight on both ends ?

If you don't have headlights, the battery connections would be the first thing to check. The truck gets power thru the cables going to the starter and ground to the engine and frame.
If you have headlights but nothing else when you turn the key on, it could be the key switch.

My 1995 Cougar XR7 V8 4.6L will not start. When I turn the key, the ammeter pegs at 0, but nothing else happens. There is no click from anywhere under the hood. I have a brand new (6 weeks old)...

Check the fusible link between the battery and the fuse box under the hood. Just follow the positive battery cable towards the fuse box where it looks like there's a cable going in and a cable coming out. the cover slides up to access the fusible link. take off the two nuts with a 1/2 inch wrench, pull the cables off and remove the link. It should be marked as a 175 amp fuse. Run to the auto parts store to buy a replacement. reinstall. Good luck.

The car wont turn over. when i place the key in the ignition to start the car it does nothing the dashboard dont light up, the car has a new starter, new battery, new spark plugs w/ cables

Is the battery fully charged and are the connections clean and tight. Your ignition fuse seems to be blown. Check the big fuses under the hood. Will the headlights come on? will the horn blow? Good Luck!!!

New battery, new starter just installed wont turn over.

turn on your headlights ,then turn key like your going to try and start the engine and see if the headlights dim dramatically, then you'll know if you have a good connection to starter from battery, then check chg on new battery

1995 blazer won't start

u are disrobing either an open battery post or a corroded battery cable connection, this would explain why u can't jump it and why the click and nothing, get a battery cable cleaning brush from your local auto parts stores and clean the battery posts and cables, also have the battery tested, I am sure this will fix the problem
