Question about 2001 Kia Optima
Try replacing the fuel filter and running fuel injector cleaner through the fuel system for the next 4 tank full. Gas that has been sitting for a long time and has oxidized turns in to varnish and the varnish may have gummed up the fuel lines, fuel injectors and fuel filter. Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter and run fuel injector cleaner through the fuel system. A product called Sea Foam is a good engine cleaner. Just fallow the instruction on the can for the engine and fuel system, please take note that there will be some smoke. The smoke is normal and will do no harm to the engine, just follow the instructions on the can and if you like, do a search on Youtube for Sea Foam and you'll see what i mean about smoke. Good luck and hope this helps.
