Question about 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier
Sounds like the car may not be shifting gears. So the first thing you should do is check the transmission fluid. If the car is not an automatic check your clutch adjustment. If adding fluid or adjusting clutch doesn't fix the problem the transmission or clutch may be going bad. Another way to check transmission would be to go down highway at about 45mph then floor it as if to pass someone and see if car goes or revs up and doesn't take off right away. If it doesn't take off right away have clutch /transmission checked.
