Sometimes you would have to take the front fenders off in order to get to them. Personally, I wouldn't try to mess with them. Unplugging the sensor or playing around with the sensor may set the air bags in the car to go off accidentally. Every make and model have a curtain way of disabling the air bag system so the air bags don't go off. It's best to have a service station deal with it.
Replacing air bags itself would cost a lot of money. I've heard over $2000. I just wouldn't risk it.

The air bag had been deployed and not replaced in my 98 mustang 3.8 v6 the air bag light flashes. will this make a difference in the way it runs

No your mustang will run as before
If the flashing light bothers you get the control unit to ignore it by disabling the airbags sensors

Air bag light stays on 1998 ford mustang

You need to check for codes immediately or just take
to a repair shop, when you get any MIL Lamp on your dash

The air bag light is part of a system called SRS (supplemental
restraint system) there are other items, seat belts, other air bags
in some models & many sensors thru out any vehicle,so your focus
is not on the steering wheel air bag until you retrieve codes

You can not solve this yourself because the codes are manufacture
& require a factory manual or data base counter part, to follow proper testing procedures to a sucessful conclusion

When the light is on, it may be that the air bags will be turned off,
so,you never know if that is the case or you may need them

I have a 94 Mustang 5.0, two problems , one my air bag light flashes on then stays on then disappears for a bit, second it doesn't want to seem to idle, you start it up it idles for a couple minutes then...

As far as the stalling is the tps sensor okay, check it to make sure its in spec, as far as the air bag light you will need to scan the codes and see what code is being stored in the system, its a 94 so you will need to count the flashes of the light and thats the code, also check the map sensor thats a common problem also with these, good day,

My air bag light on my 2000 Ford Econoline van flashes a 19 code. Does anyone know what that means?

Seems to be a very common problem with Ford. The wiring harness beneath the drivers seat contains the sensors for the airbag system. Go under the drivers seat and secure all the wires and clips. This makes most error lights for the airbags go away. Hope this helps and good luck!

Air bag sensor keeps flashing

If a concern is detected, the air bag control module will communicate by flashing the warning indicator. A diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is logged by the air bag control module in a nonvolatile memory. For additional information, refer to Diagnosis and Testing in this section.

I have done this twice to my car, ohm out your air bag sensors under your hood and you will find a bad one, and from previous experience dont slam your hood anymore
