Question about 1995 Volkswagen Jetta

1 Answer

My VW Jetta 3 1995 is underpowered

I left my VW Jetta 2.0 1995 for about 3 month and that came back and started it. It bacame underpowered and the check engine is on. Moreover it is shaking when I push accelerator. But it was not like that before I left it. It was staying open air. I brought my car to mechanic-he told me that my problem is in distributor and he replaced it. Absolutly like before(bad). Later he told me that it is throttle position sensor. I replaced it. Now it is not shaking but it is underpovered and I can start it only in third try however engine is warmed up. And gas consumption increased. What might be the reason of it? Thank you

The starter must have been bad due to the water.

Bad PCM or ignition coil.

Corroded battery cables.

See timing belt.

here is whats wrong: your car has EGS(ethanol gas syndrome). This probably is what was wrong all along. First; buy a new fuel filter. And buy a can of SEAFOAM. Change out filter, and add SF to tank of at least 1/2 tank of gas. Then let car idle for at least 5 min(even if you must regulate idle with your foot on pedal).

Then take car out for 5-10 mile hard run.

You may have to change fuel filter one more time. What has happened, your car sat all that time, and the corn(yes the corn) created a by product that turns to a syrupy goop and excessive water. It gets in all fuel lines, emission parts, and your tank was full of this when you started it for the 1st time in 3 months. It just pulled it all through the system.
After you do this, be sure to add a can of SF every 5000 miles to prevent this problem again. And if you must leave car un-started for a long period, put Premium gas, and a can of SF in it to prevent this. The Gas companies and the EPA sure screwed up on this one. Good luck. (by the way. the light is probably lean mixture. wouldn't hurt to replace oxy sens. or take it out and have it cleaned)

2004 vw jetta won't start and the malfunction light is on. This has happened and we tak it to the shop, they can;t find the problem and then the Jetta starts up. It may be months, weeks of a few days and...

I know that some european cars have an "immobilizer" as part of their anti-theft system that frequently malfunctions in this way. Have it swapped out if your car has such a module. An independent shop may be better for this. There's a relay called "Relay 109" that may cause this also-it's only in Jetta TDIs.Here is part of a post from a dissatisfied owner if you continue having problems:I had TWO of these bought back by Yugowagen and you can do the same-WITHOUT an attorney!! I had the 2 cars for six months and over 12K miles total and was not charged a dime for use!! They gave me the cash I paid in, the value of my trade, and the amount of the payments made, and paid off the loan balance!! Hopefully this number is still good- I've posted it several times on this site and it might have been changed. Contact Jason Tosetti at VWOA at (248) 754-3787. His FAX number is (248) 754-6504. Jason is the VW drone that handled my cases. Also, another dissatisfied VW owner had posted the number of another VW exec somewhere on this site. And yes, the Volvo V40 has been FANTASTIC!! If the S40 sedan and V40 wagon still have the $4K incentive you can get a killer deal!! My car stickered for $29,385 and I got it for $23,500 !! And the car is a much more refined vehicle than the Yugowagen! Good luck!! And, by the way, VW DOES offer loaner cars-the dealer must call the district office to get it authorized which is no problem. I had 5 loaners during my 6 month nightmare.
