Traction Control light comes on at high speeds?

1996 Buick Riviera - Everything is fine at low speeds-once I drive the vehicle for a while at speeds of 60-70, the traction lighst comes on & then the computer throttles down the engine, as the system is designed to do.

sounds like failed wheel speed sensors. you can get around this by turning off traction control until you can get em fixed. If you hold in the the traction control button, it should shut the system down

Abs & traction light on 1997 buick lesabre

This is a fairly common problem, Gm has actually issued a service bulletin regarding this repair. The problem probably originates from one of your wheel speed sensors that is mounted inside one of your front wheel bearings. To be sure, you need to have the car scanned to find out which one and then you have to replace the whole bearing assembly because the sensor is integral to the bearing. The bearing is not hard to do but you will need some professional tools if you want to do it yourself. At a shop it should cost between 3 and 400 dollars complete.

My traction control light keeps coming on and I wonder how to fix this problem. Sometimes I will be driving along (usually around 50 mph) and suddenly my Riviera does like this lunging thing....or...

Take it to a local Advance Auto Parts store and ask them to check it for trouble codes, it will not cost you anything for them to check it. If they do not find any codes take it to a reccomended transmission shop. If Advance does find trouble codes ask them NOT to clear them because the transmission shop will need to know what they are. Thanks and good luck with your repair.

1996 oldsmobile lose power atfer it reach 25mph the low traction

Per your description, it sounds as though there may be a wheel speed sensor problem or a tire that is low on air pressure.
The traction control system on your vehicle relies on four wheel speeds to determine if the vehicle is in a skid or not. If the traction control system sees one of the wheel speeds lower or higher than the rest, it thinks your in a spin or skid and will reduce power to compensate and straighten the vehicle.
So, first thing to do is check all four tires and make sure they are at the same inflation rate some where between 28 and 32 lbs.
Next, disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 minutes, this will clear the module and let you start fresh.
Try that first before any parts are replaced.
Good luck and let me know.

Traction light

I would have a comp. check on the abs system to see whitch wheel is running faster or slower than the others. You may have a wheel bearing sensor that is going bad. This always seems to be the prob. seen as how the traction control gets it's info from the wheel speed.
