FORD EXPLORER IGNITION ISSUE

I put the key in the ignition of a FORD EXPLORER SPORT TRAC and it turns...but seems loose, and it will not start. The auxilaries work...thinkin it's either the ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM or the LOCK CYLINDER. Any pointers?

sounds like a dead battery , try a jump start ,if it starts have the alternator charge rate checked as if low may have been the cause of the battery going flat, then recharge the battery with a drive of about 20 miles

The ignition is locked and can not turn the key

Ignition lock cylinder or solenoid damaged. Either way this is a dealer only fix, because the cut codes for replacement lock cylinders and keys are confidential information and require a government issued ID matching the vehicle title.

First thing would be to replace the fuel filter. Then spark plugs. You may have a weak fuel pump. A faulty fuel pressure regulator could also cause this.

Dealer OR Locksmith

Dealer you need your VIN number

Locksmith may just cut a key for your ignition
