Identifying a replaced engine in Isuzu Trooper II 1988

I recently bought an Isuzu Trooper II 1988 with J** vin(assuming japanese vin) The engine is not the original and I'm having trouble identifying which engine it is. It is an ''I-TECH'' Isuzu brand 4 cylinder 2.*L engine. I don't believe the 88s came with fuel Injection so it is probably a newer model. It looks like it is a throttle body fuel injection. My question is where are some locations on the engine where I could find the ''serial'' number or whatever number identifies the engine so I can know where to start with trouble shooting/buying parts. If there is any other information I can gather just let me know. Appreciate the help

It should be on the side of the block 4ZE1 would indicate a 2.6L and yes a 1988 came with this engine with fuel injection.

Where to find the chassis number in my isuzu 1988 trooper 2 Door

wow in what country? , VIN codes and locations very all over planet earth, in use its like this back in 1988
its on the left side of dash not top, driver (left) door open. stand here and look see it?
on top of dash left near glass edge , it moved in later years, by law.
why did you say chassis, is not a chassis number in usa
its a VIN. by law.
chassis tags are used on all cars outside USA in 1988.
for sure.

Need to replace starter

I recommend you get the Haynes repair manual on your vehicle. Start by removing the negative battery terminal, then removing the retaining bolts from the starter followed by removing the wires from the starter. Reverse the process to put the new starter on.

2000 isuzu trooper: OBD-II Trouble Code: P0401 Insufficient EGR F

Your SUV is really giving you a hard time, lol. Sorry but I've had those days too.
I would try to check if you have blocked EGR passages. If ok check for restricted MAP sensor vacuum hose/passage or restricted exhaust. I know you replaced the CAT but if the muffler is blocked then there would still be a restriction. Also check the wiring and connection to the MAP sensor.

1988 trooper the radio was replaced now the fuse blows

Start by disconnecting the radio power wire, it may have been connected to your dashlite circuit. Now with a test lite tool check the available wires for the heavier wire, Using the test lite, this should have power when the ignition is on. reconnect your radio power wire to this one and your problem is solved.
