1994 vw jetta Won't crank or start, after changing battery

I changed the battery in my 1994 vw jetta, and it will not start or crank. Is there a fuse or relay I should know about?

After checking all wires and connections,I changed the starter and it was the selanoid. The botttom ground wire was melted. Replaced the starter with a rebuild one from PepBoys ($119 after 465 money back for the core) and the car starts right away.

Check that Battery Cables are tight, Check Battery ground to Metal.Do headlights light? I am not aware of any 1 main fuse that would prevent lights, starter from working.Good Luck.

I got a 94 jetta that was giving me problems every time I went to start the car, I had to crank it maybe 20 times before the car started and now the car doesn't get any spark, we changed everything that...

The only other classic problem for this series is a defective ignition switch. These were a cheap plastic unit that would fail electrically after a decade or so. Beyond that, you'll need a sharp VW mechanic, in my opinion. Do you have the factory manual? There are flow charts within for no spark/start condition.

94 vw jetta would not start

94 Jettas have a anti-theft kill switch. It can mimik the starter or alternator. Lock all the doors with them closed, then unlock the drivers side with the key. Wait about two min then try cranking it. Should start up instantly, if not reset the computer.
