I just purchased a 2003 trailblazer and the power lock buttons won't work correctly. one min. we think it is set and then it just locks and unlocks by its self ? we set it to lock when it is shifted in to gear, it works fine and then the next time we start the vehicle it won't do it ? I also can't get the interior lights to worck correctly they won't go off unless I use the manual override button! Could this be a wiring problem ?

The Headlamps On at Exit and Perimeter Lighting modes can be adjusted using the steering wheel controls to select the wanted function as displayed in the driver information center. The Headlamps On at Exit selection will allow the driver to customize the period of time that the headlamps remain illuminated upon exiting the vehicle. This period can be adjusted from 0 seconds to 180 seconds. The Perimeter Lighting feature allows the driver to select if they want the headlamps and backup lamps to illuminate when the door UNLOCK button on the key fob is activated. This feature can be turned ON or OFF by using the driver information center steering wheel control buttons.

All cars have two sets of key FOBs. Is your 2nd set in the house?
If the windows are down far enough to press the unlock button, can you also reach the door open handle? If so, reach in and open the door. (I must be missing something here).
1. Close all doors 2. Insert key into ignition 3. Hold down the power UNLOCK button on the driver's door panel, continue to hold down until instructed to release in step 9. 4. Perform steps 5 through 8 in a fairly rapid succession. 5. Turn the ignition to the ON position (as far as you can go without starting the engine.) 6. Turn the ignition to the OFF position. 7. Turn the ignition to the ON position (as far as you can go without starting the engine.) 8. Turn the ignition to the OFF position. 9. Release the power UNLOCK button on the door panel. The vehicle should respond by door locks locking and unlocking automatically. (If locks do not cycle after you let go, not before you let go of the unlock button, then the vehicle has not entered programming mode and you must start procedure over. Remove key from ignition, open drivers door and return to step 1 ). If the locks do cycle automatically then proceed to step 10. 10. Hold down the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the remote until the doors lock and unlock. This may take up to 30 seconds. 11. Repeat step 10 NOW for each additional remote. (Including any existing remotes). 12. Turn the ignition to the ON position to exit the programming mode. 13. Test remote(s).
If the passkey is messed up, there will be a light on the dash that says security, or have a picture of a car with a lock thru it. If there is no light when the key is turned forward, then its NOT a passkey problem.
you have to have a special tool that will reach over the top of your door window and then down to hit either the window control or door locks control...you can buy these at any auto parts store but any wrecker driver has these tools and can get in in less than 5 mins... a "slim jim" will not work unless it is manual door locks (as opposed to electric)
Synchronization When Key buttons operated repeatedly while vehicle out of range and system becomes inoperative. Key batteries replaced. How - early models Depress lock or unlock button. Manually lock and unlock driver's door within 30 seconds. System should operate normally after approximately 1 minute. If not, carry out programming procedure. How - late models If vehicle locked, manually unlock driver's door using key. Press key unlock button once. Switch ignition ON and OFF. Remove key from ignition switch. Press key lock or unlock button once. System should now operate correctly.
The key in the ignition unlock feature works when the vehicle is turned off, not in the running position. You should have a feature built into the radio that lets you go in and set features like your locks, lights etc. Look in the manual under the Radio section. I think you have to hold the lower left large button in to activate menu, but it is a little different on certain models. Some have a set button.
