2002 monte carlo overheating

2002 monte carlo ss overheats in idle, cools when driving. cant see any noticeable leaks, but i do see very small amount of water comming from a cylindrical thing below the air filter. radiator fan also not coming on.

is thermostat same thing as the radiator cap?

even when ac on high, fan doesnt turn on, with heat high it doesnt turn on, when idleing and it gets warm/hot fan still not turning on. check engine light on occasionally.. its also about time for oil change. got 117,000 miles.

i love my baby and wanna keep her in good shape... please help!

Better make sure the fan works. There is a switch on the radiator that turns the fan on when it gets to a certain temperature. It could be the fan or the switch. Your thermostat is not your cap, it's in a different location. (Usually at the engine end of the upper radiator hose) Get the leak check! A good garage can pressure test the system to see what leaks you might have.

You can tell if it makes noise or leaks from a small hole in the bottom of the water pump.

2001 monte carlo ls 3.4 overheats!! replaced everything

You have to bleed the air out of the system. There are 1 maybe 2 bleeders on the front of the engine on the cooling system bypass pipe one near the upper hose the the othe on the drivers side of the pipe. They are brass with a small bleeder valve in the middle. Get the car up to temperature and take your time to allow all the air out. Refill cooling system after it cools. Hope you didn't do any damage running it hot.

2002 monte carlo ss the will start but the engine cooling fan want start

The engine cooling fan is controlled by a thermostatic switch. From your description, I believe you are assuming the fan comes on immediately when the engine starts. Not so. It only comes on when a certain temperature is reached

2001 Monte Carlo SS 92,000 have to add quart of oil every other month. Engine is very clean, no smell of burning old and no blue smoke and no leaks on the ground, Use total synthenic oil for high mileage...

No doubt valve seals, the oil gets burned so you usually can't see it.Normal for GM motors, actually the small amount of oil will help the longevity of the engine. They can be changed in a few hours but I would leave it alone. When they get really bad if the car sits and idles you will see some smoke. The seal is just a small o-ring ,they get brittle and fall off.The shop can use air pressure at the spark plug hole to keep the valve up,compress the valve spring and replace the seal.

Where in the heck is the radiator fuses on a 2003 chevy monte carlo SS. The passenger side fan motor has quit but is showing it has power when tested with a testing light?

if you have power there then the fuses are good or relays but if you have power then you ethier have a bad fan or ground wire also that fan should only come on when the ac is on

The Starter silenoid is probably what the problem is. And the knocking could that be a loose starter? The two problems doesn't seem connected.
