Sounds like you have a damaged power wire related to the headlights that is grounding out when you turn them on.

Check every wire in the area of the battery for any signs of damage.

Hello, I have a 2003 navigator 5.4, 2 days ago warning light came on said check charging system (battery is only 6 months old), then last night went to store and when I came out truck wouldn't

your battery is so dead and or shorted it won't allow enough current to keep the truck running it could be a wire ground or positive not allowing enough current take the battery back to the place of purchase and have it tested it should be under warranty.I wouldn't try to start it by jumping it anymore try a fresh hot battery I think it will fix it

There is an electrical short draining the battery. . You can check each fuse one at a time to find the circuit & trace the wire to find the short. Make sure all electrical things are working, if u find something not working you can strt looking through that circuit for the short

Headlight fuses keep blowing

You have a short circuit somewhere in the wiring. Either a cut or bare wire. If not, the headlamp is causing the short. Last resort, use a higher amp fuse (but this may compromise wiring system).

The battery keeps dying on my 2001 nissan xterra. when the car is turned off the hot cable is still drawing fire from the battery causing it to die. I took out the security fuse and it fixed the problem,...

I guess its a common problem for xterras just to die when driving huuh lol.... just like all of you. i was driving and mine died at a stop light to lol.... people keep telling me that it might be the timing belt or distributor ( if you remove the distributor cap and someone turns the key a little, if the rotor spins that means the distributor took a dump.. and if the rotor dont spin the timing belt took a dump... i will be checking this out to see if its true this weekend..

Travis,

Thsi way you will keep paying me $10 everytime your battery goes dead. Please have your car alternator checked and repaired as it is not charging the battery because of which the battery runs low and the cars stops. Gas cars need a battery to run on, unlike diesel ones that need battery only to start. They can also be push started if the battery is dead. petrol card cant run without the battery. So, the answer lies in driving to the electrician and getting the alternator repaired.

I installed a new battery because my other was drained.when i hooked up the new one, my locks keep locking over and over again, so im guessing thats why my old battery was shot.what do u think caused this?

does the vehicle have an alarm, or security system? cause sometimes when a battery dies, you need to reset that system inorder to have that problem get fixed, if not then there is a short somewhere in the electrical system... hope this helps you out...

I think you have a short where the wiring harness plugs into the fuse block .I'ts located on the
firewall, just above the battery. Look at the lower left corner for signs of a hot spot, melting or
burned wire.
