Unsnap the air intake- there are plastic screws that hold them it in place. Open them up and take the intake piece out. Unclip the lid....take the filter out -replace and re-attach the air intake piece.

How to install filter

Oil Filter, Air filter or cabin filter?
Oil is done at the same time as changing the oil; it's a simple unscrew it, make sure the mating engine surface is clean (you don't want to leave any part of the old gasket behind), spread a couple of drops of oil on the gasket of the new filter, and screw it back in. Air filter is open the air box, take the old filter out, put the new one in, close the air box. Cabin filter depends on the car for location, but it's also a take out, put in new.
It does help us if you include Year, Make and Model of your car or truck and which filter you want to change.

Oil Change, Air Filter replacement, coolant check, tranny filter change, rotate tires and check pressures, and cabin air filter are among the more important ones to consider along with having the brakes and rotors checked and machined if required.

I have just hit 99k miles. What type of service do I need to have done on truck? Change spark plugs? I don't have the owners manual...

Well, not knowing what has been done previously, here's a list of some things that need to be done.

Manual says.....
Spark plugs, AC Delco 41-103's
Radiator flush

But these things should be done also, if not done already....
Clean your throttle body, this should be done more often than, maybe once a year...
Transmission filter with new fluid...or you can do a flush..use the new Dexron 6 product that GM has out now, good stuff.
Change your fuel filter and air filter
May look at changing your upstream 02 sensor
Differential fluids
Transfer case fluid, if it's 4x4
Inspect all vaccum lines

What does a major tune up for a 2004 chevy impala consist of? What should be done and needs to be done?

New spark plugs, oil and oil filter, transmission flush and fill, fuel filter, air filter, coolant flush and fill, clean throttle body plate and bore, clean the MAF sensor, replace any loose or cracked vacuum lines, PCV valve, new air filter, new battery.

99% of the time all you should ever need for a tune up is new spark plugs, and a clean air filter and throttle body. But since your inquiry indicated "major" I gave it more critical thought.

How do I change the air filter on my 2003 passat wagen?

Pull the intake pipe up from the front panel, then to make it easier you can loosen the jubilee clip on the air mass metre, once you have done this you can gain access to the clips on the air filter housing and change your filter.

Trying to locate cabin air filter in 2003

The 2002/2003 Silverado was a change over year for Cabin Air filters. I know with the Chevy Avalanche the 03's did not have them and 02's did. The dash/center console changed with the 03's, and I believe it was done away with in that change over.... Still shows up on catalog, but the 03 has no Cabin Filter.

Good luck, and Merry Christmas

Both are under the hood and easy to get to. As for the Air Filter nobody beats K&N they are simply the best. Any fuel filter thats the right one will do.
