Clean the battery connections for good contact and that the battery is well charged (should read 12.6 volts without the engine running).

I have a 2003 Ford Ranger with good battery and new starter, but when I turn the key it won't start. It clicks like it isa bad battery. I can jump start it from the cylinoid and it wil start. What is...

could be wire to solenoid from key switch is not sending power out this would be a Part # : 2IS112 from oreillys at base of steering collom or solenoid could be bad. take of small wire on side of it and run a small wire to it and touch the hot on batt to see if it works make sure car is in park and just tap wire be ready to pull it off quick and it will spark

Defective ignition starter switch would be my guess. The switch is mounted on the bottom top of the steering column tube.

It wont start, just makes a clicking noise. put new battery cables on, new starter, new cylinoid. tried to jump start it, wont jump start either

Clicking noise usually means a bad connection at the battery terminal. It can also be a bad connection at the starter or solenoid.
Re-clean and tighten battery cables, and if that doesn't do it,re-tighten starter connections.Don't overtighten as copper-bronze studs can break easily. If your Ranger is standard shift (4 or 5-speed), don't get under the car or in front of it without the battery cables disconnectede or the shifter in neutral,as any current you inadvertently send thru the starter can engage it and run you over or knock the vehicle off jackstands or blocks. don-ohio

Starts, into second stalls, starts right up and does the same thing.1991 ford ranger 4x2, sat for 3 yrs. have cleaned the computer, replaced fuses, new fuel pump

you might need to also remove and clean the injector, remove and replace the fuel filter, and you probably need to fill the tank with fresh gasoline-check fuel pump pressure too.

1988 Ford Ranger truck, new battery and new alternator but car won't start, it just clicks?

the clicks are a signature of a bad battery, since your is new, it probally is not bad, i would try to jump the car with cables, even though your battery is new, you dont know how long is sat ont he shelf before you took it home, may be weak, 1 good jump to get the motor going and the alternator will charge it right up so wont have to so it again....

the only other thing is the starting system left to look at if that dont work is the starter, try banging on it a little with a hammer, not to hard though, as someone turns the key, this will sometime free up a locked up solinoid.

Good Luck

No power to the fuel pump

Your inertia switch is located in the right hand kick panel at the top, hard to reach with panel on, you can check it to see that it is in fact pushed in, but they sometimes burn out in this position, try using a jumper wire across the connections of the inertia switch and see if your pump runs, if so replace the switch, try the same for your ranger. Hope this helps, let me know

86 Ford Ranger 2.3L TurboDiesel won't start

This sounds like your problem.....Try this, only takes 5 minutes and probably whats wrong. The same thing happened to me, it was running perfect and died. There's something called an Inertia switch (google how to find it) the older rangers and bronco II's have them. It may think you have gotten in a accident and this device stops the fuel pumps. I literally pressed the reset button on the top of it and my truck started right back up after not being able to start at all.
