Question about 2001 Hyundai Sonata
I think the xmsn is going out. Is it possible to change the oil and replace the filter or just have the bands adjusted instead of getting or rebuilding the xmsn to fix this problem?
There is no band adjustment procedure on the 2001 Sonata. Fluid replacement is no guarantee of repair. First of all, have you checked the TCU (Transmission Control Unit) for any DTC's? (Diagnostic Trouble Codes). Has the "Check Engine" light come on when this problem occurs? If so, find an OBDII scanner and check the system for any trouble codes. It may not be what you suspect... it could simply be a defective fluid temperature sensor or a solenoid which has gone bad - these can be replaced without spending gobs of money.
