Air vent ducting has come adrift - start from the fan and try to find where the air flow goes. One of the pipes will be pointing away from a joint that it is supposed to be attached to. Check the airflow control knob area - behind it, that is - for loose piping.

Where is the " Outside " air vent located? the " circulation " button is for " inside " air only.

Normally the system pulls outside air in unless you select defrost or push the "circ" button to override the system. The outside air comes in from the area in front of the windshield.

Why is there smoke flowing from my ventilation vents? My truck is not over heating and there is no smoke coming from the engine. I have a 97 Ford, Expedition.

You mean from the aircon vent.Your cooling unit need a good chemical wash.Ice is forming in the cooling unit, the air outside is hot thus is the cold air forming smoke from contacting the hot air.

Smell comes thru air vent.

You might have both. The fresh air intake is under the windshield wipers, that vent takes in the fresh air from outside. The filter is usually in the rear seat section on vans and suvs, somewhere, sometimes up front under the dash. You can switch your ac or fresh air control to recirculate and it will cut off the outside air. We always do it on dusty roads and dead skunks. Hope this helps.

Changed the 2 cabin air filters but bad odor still comes out vent

If you run your Air cond on recirculate always try using an air sanitizer in your return vent. Or switch your A/C to outside air flow for for half an hour and raise the rear of your sunroof panel to vent the stale air do this till the smell dissipates and then close he sunroof and reset the A/C to recirculate if desired.

Hot air comes out of defrost vent at top dash and cold air out of

Hey, what setting is your A/C on Max AC? AC? Cycling air in vehicle or taking it from outside

The car icon on the right in this image is what I'm referring to when I say cycling air in vehicle.

Also, do you ever have cold air blowing? on any setting or any speed? if not, find your A/C fan, it is smaller the the engine cooling fan, sometimes there are 2 fans together. The AC fan should be located at the front of the vehicle and is usually electrically powered.

Also try to find your compressor, looks something like this:

is it running? is one pipe hot and one cold? (the pipes I am referring to are inlet and outlet pipes of the A/C compressor unit.)

Hope this helps, keep me posted

Nothing but hot air coming out from vents all the time.

Check the actuator motor on the inside of the car on the heater. It shifts the doors of the unit to let the heat and ac shift.

Heat overrides the a/c

I'm sure you have already checked this...but just make sure the button is pushed for Recirculate and not Vent when you run your A/C. You don't want the outside air coming into the cab...the A/C will run much cooler when it's taking in the air from inside your cab rather than trying to cool the hot air coming thru the vent from the outside.
