Most likely the brake vacuum booster; however, check for a disconnected vacuum hose or missing clamp on the hose that connects to the booster. You should be able to locate it quickly, it makes a lot of noise unter the hood.

Hope this helps!

Air sound is consistent with the power booster behind the master cylinder leaking. (actually sucking in vacuum) which if excessive could possibly turn the check engine light on (may show up on scan as an O2 sensor or "lean condition") There is no way of repairing the booster other than replacing it. You can use a scrapyard part or new (but expensive). Generally replacement is no more difficult than replacing the master cylinder twice, but bolts for the booster are under the dashboard, on the firewall.

check to see if brake lights work when you press pedal. You need that to work for your car to come out of Park.

2005 jeep liberty brake lights don't work, none of them but fuses and brake light switch are good.

maybe brake light switch located near your brake petal needs adjusting...its simply a push button that the brake petal hits as the brake petal is depressed usually u can just pull on them toward you and they'll "self-adjust" after pressing on brake petal...push on brake petal with ur hand and make sure this button is depressed while the pedal is down...

My brakes are grinding and even when im not pressing the brake petal i hear a grinding noise..

That's probably why the caliper may be hanging Si the pad or what's left of it will remain in contact rather than retracting.

96' Chevy K1500 Brakes are hard to press, but u hear a lot of air coming out, if i hold the brakes down for too long the truck cuts off.

It sounds like a problem with the brake booster, the air diaphragm that gives you power brakes. It is located right behind the brake master cylinder and mounted to the firewall.
Check the large vacuum hose to it for leaks. If the air is coming out of the unit itself, it will need replacing.
It will stop the engine because with a large air leak, the engine just sucks in way too much air. Hard brakes are also an indication that the booster is not working right. But check the hose first for leaking.
Good luck.

Brake lights wont come on everything else works

check the brake switch on top of brake pedal arm. it could be bad or out of adjustment. this switch sends current to rear stop lights when stepping on the brakes, to apply the stop lights.

The air seeping is a dead giveaway. Your power brakes are now manual brakes, but stiffer. The diaphram in the brake booster has torn and the hissing noise is the engine vacuum escaping (you hear it louder when you depress the pedal right?). Replace the booster and you will be fine. The brake lights probably don't work because you can't push the pedal down far enought to release the switch. Please rate. Thanks.

Where the brake switch on my polo 3003 model my brake lights dont work some told me its the switcc

Check & replace if necessary the brake pedal switch placed above pedals on the support.
If the problem still occurs you might access the ABS ECU (Electronic Control Unit) using diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car, in order to pull out all DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) memored.
Then you will be able to replace bad piece(s) and fix the problem by erasing all DTC stocked inside ABS ECU & reset it.

1. Remove the cover panel above the driver's side foot well ...
2. Locate old switch, push in brake pedal, and twist switch body to remove ...
3. Unplug 4 pin connector from old switch and plug into new switch (it only goes one way...don't force it!). Insert new switch into frame and depress brake petal. You should turn it until it locks into place and is positioned like the original.

4. Start the engine. Press the brake pedal once or twice and the EPC light should go out ...
5. Replace the cover over the foot well and you are done! If not, check the 4 pin connection and make sure it is fully seated in the switch. Also check to see if you can hear the switch engage when you press the brake pedal ... if not, you will need to remove the switch and adjust the push rod. The rod will move in and out for adjustment. Check to see if the brake lights come on when you press the brake pedal as well!

First inspect the vacuum check valve and the booster vacuum grommet for any leaks, even a pin hole in the check valve can also cause that to happen.

If the vacuum line to the booster is tight and has no air leaks, and no air leaks are in the vacuum check valve, then replace the booster unit.

Clicking noise coming from the Engine and car shakes when stoppin

Probably a disc brake pad scraping on a warped rotor as it goes around. When you apply the brakes the warped rotor causes the car to pulse or shake as the rotor goes around and applies the brake unevenly. You need a front brake job.

Just had a similar problem. Brake (stop) lights and horn didn't work. Couldn't find mention of stop lights in fuse chart. Found horn fuse to be slot 21 in the engine fuse block (not the fuse block in car interior). Replaced 15A fuse and all now ok.
