Had 55,000 mile oil change, now VSC and check engine light are on, was not before the oil change. Car is a lease and have to return in a few months, really don't want to put more money into this car if I don't have to.

The converters generally fail only after the truck has been running rich. I would not replace them until certain the engine is running properly. There is no harm to the car to drive with these converters. Was there any history of rich operation codes?
I have both lights on in my 2004 van also I have the engine light on. i took it to the dealer and they found the Yaw Rate Sensor (Vsc & TRAC) bad. The part is about$ 405 and is under the drivers seat. The other problems is the Catalyst System (engine light) about $1000 for parts.I have about 147,000 miles on my '04 and the problems started about 130,000.
I'd get the car back to who changed the oil and have them run the check engine code. If they are interested in customer service, I'd think they'd do that for free.
With the code, can better determine the risk. While I'd not consider a VSC/Trac Control critical (we ahve all driven cars for years with out it), the addition of the check engine light could mean bigger problems. I'd also be more concerned if it was an ABS brake fault or brake light that was lit.
obviously they did disconnect a sensor while they were working on your vehicle.this will set a code in your vehicle's computer. They call this a soft code since there was not a failure but it just did not sense a signal. After reconnecting it clears the code after so many ignition cycles, meaning turning the key on and off so many times. The code is stored in the computer so it would be a good idea to take it to the dealer to check it out and make sure there are no other problems
the vsc light will come on with check eng light it disables traction control when its on when you fix or clear ck eng lite itll go off I have a 04 sienna it has bad cat conv and it comes on every couple of months I just clear it cause a cat costs like400 eventually ill fix it right.
