Hi there lose of power steering and the eps light coming on could be the power steering pump is broken or near stuffed so will require a new pump. The other reason is that your power steering oil level is to low and needs toping up. Also check that the drive belts driving the power steering pump are tight and not slipping.
not sure what country you are from but in England you get 3 year 60000m warranty if you had your touran in 07 then it should still be in warranty.if not then it could be bad news ,the most common problem is the brake pressure sensor it is designated G201and it is a internal part of the abs unit, the unit costs around £900!!.when this sensor fails the only light that is illuminated is the esp light usually if you have a brake switch problem the engine warning light is illuminated also. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...
I have come up against this problem a few times before.
If the ABS. light is NOT on, and its the ESP light only that is
on...your problem may well be a faulty Yaw sensor. This unit is fitted
to the floor panel under the rear seat...in the centre. Another problem
(although not all that common) is a faulty ESP switch. You should have
an OBD code reading done to make sure. If a new YAW sensor must be
fitted, the car must be driven with a full steering lock in both
directions (left and right) at a speed over 20 Km per hour after
fitting. If this is not done the light will remain on, even though it
will now drive ok.
As for the price of this unit...Here in Ireland it costs around 140
euro. Hopefully its cheaper where you are. So better to have the codes
I hope this is of some help to you.
Good luck with it
You should get
the OBD codes checked to make certain what the problem is.. £1500
sounds a crazy price. If the ABS light is NOT on also..your problem
could be as simple as the ESP switch. Also check if your vehicle
is fitted with a YAW sensor...as they also can cause this problem. This
is a small unit fitted on the floor panel under the rear seat.
This is common problem with many vw's
Sounds silly but change the brake light switch under brake pedal.
Often solves the problem (about £8 for switch) will need the light turning out by diagnostic tool.
