I have a 1996 gmc Sonoma. Headlights will work sometimes.

Consider the dimmer switch on the steering wheel; the wires from it wouldn't affect the tail lights, but could possibly affect the headlights. Hopefully loose wires from the assy is the problem.. replacing the unit might be difficult. or expensive.

1994 GMC Sonoma 4.3L Vortec V6, I changed the spark plugs and wires. Still won't start. Acts like its going too, then makes a noise kind of like air brakes on the big rig. What else could it

change the model in the distribter there the wire connect. When you have the cap off check the cap rotor, and see if shaft is loose.THE gear could be worn or broke you did check to make sure it is turning.

I replaced my head gasket on my 93 sonoma 2.5l I'v been driving it for about 6 months three days ago I changed the catalytic converter and muffler It ran fine for a day but now it idles rough it's...

It may just be a dirty MAF sensor, you may want to spray carb cleaner into the intake to clean out. Check also the idle air control valve. IT may also just be dirty. Check for loose vacuum hose. If you can, have a scanner connected to the diagnostic port to see if there are errors. Some shops would let you borrow their scanners.

1991 sonoma 2.8l what is the sparkplug wires order at plugs and distributor cap

Got kind of confused because I'm pretty sure the Sonoma didn't come out until 1992 but then again I could be wrong. Not perfect you know. Anyhow this is the firing order for the GMC 2.8 Liter engines from 90 - 93 (see picture below). I hope this is what your looking for and I hope it helps. good luck.

Do the fuel pumps have a high failure rate for gmc sonoma 4.3 1996? it was running great last nite and this a.m. nothing, no noise at pump when turn key, but 8-9 volts on the small square three wire plug...

You should have 12v at that wire.Definitely would check for corroded or loose wiring especially on the ground that runs to the frame on this you are for sure losing enough voltage to cause the pump not to work. If possible try running a jumper wire from the battery to the pump power wire which I think is purple or red and see if your pump will activate.

Changing spark plug wires

The best way is to replace one wire at a time. Grab each wire boot and twist back and forth to break loose the sealing to the plug, and pull off. When reinstalling, make sure that all wires are seated in the ditributor cap, they can be a little tough to get seated properly.
