Strongly suspect the AC system has sprung a leak somewhere and the refrigerant is 'low' - the 'hissing' noise you hear is normal when the system is 'undercharged.' Solution is inspect the system & repair the leak. If it turns out there is NO leak, then the problem is either at the compressor (low head pressure) and/or the expansion valve at the evaporator.

On most newer cars the ventilation system is redirected (like from the floor to defrost) using vacuum assist. As the car ages things tend to get out of alignment. So the vent doors struggle a bit more to open and close. You can usually hear it when you turn your car off. This is because once the vacuum has been shut off the vent door springs back to it's normal position.
It is possible that a stuck vent flap could cause the issue with the air conditioning.
It's more likely though that the a.c. issue is an all together separate problem.
If you took it somewhere to have the a. c. serviced you should return and explain the problem. If it's something like a leak in the system then that is something they should have noticed. Unless it's something caused during the refill.
Good luck.

I had my 1997 kia sportage air con regassed 2 weeks ago, they found a leak and fixed it. When my air con is on, the air blowing from the vents is not cold. What could be the problem?

Make sure the compressor clutch is engaging by watching whether it spins with the fan belt moving when the engine is on (don't touch it). If the compressor doesn't have its clutch turn when the engine is on, the a/c may have lost its charge again. Take back to dealer to have it checked out, again.

I have a BMW 323I 1999 sedan, and I just got 1188 and 1189 codes faults like 2 weeks ago. Today things went worst and while I was parked giving a phone call ad car runnig idle the engine started to run...

I think that you have an air leak. The fact that you hear it when you press the accelerator rather than when you release the accelerator suggests that it is outside of the throttle valve. Check the rubber boot/elbow that fits on the throttle valve. I just had to replace one on an '04 325 yesterday because the rubber was cracked.

Air con only working intermittently. each time it gets re-gassed after a short period of use turn engine off aeter a few seconds there is a loud hissing sound like a kettle boiling can you give me some...

If it's being charged but you hear a loud 'hissing' noise there is a leak in the piping or component of the a/c system.

One will have to wiggle the parts to see if it gets louder to determine exactly where in the a/c plumbing the leak is.

Sometimes, the evaporator leaks, which is behind the dashboard, and is often overlooked due to the fact that the dashboard must be removed to get at that part.

However, it could be anywhere, so have it checked out again, until they find the leak.

A/C does not blow cold air.

Hi. It will need to be re-gassed at ur local air con place but b4 u take it there make sure the compressor is working when u turn ur air con on. If the clutch on the compressor does not engage its a sure sign it is out of gas.

You have a resistor array assembly going out. What you described is typical of the first resistor going out and over loading the second, which goes out and overloads the third. Replace the HVAC resistor array. Don't buy a used one. Spend the extra money on the new OEM dealer item. Good luck to you.

That air duct is much too new to fail on its own. Sounds like you might have a mouse living in the duct work - blocking the vents. Have you looked at the cabin filter compartment? Strange smells? How does the heat work?
