What would be the most likely cause of intermittent loss of power and turbo boost and rough idling on a volvo f16 diesel engine

faulty injectors or faulty injector control
loss of power is fuel problems ( pump or injectors )
loss of turbo boost is lack of extra fire from the combustion --back to injector or control and bad idling is injectors squirting/ not squirting and not atomizing properly

Diesel fuel leak. looking for diagram of injector pump seals for replacement. the car is a 1982 jetta diesel with the bosch injector pump.

Get a professionally rebuilt pump. Don't try to mess with rebuilding yours, it isn't worth it. I know the rebuilt pumps are high ($450) plus, but it will pay off in reliability and performance.

First time I experienced this problem.. my 2003 TDI manual Jetta started losing power as I was driving up a hill. Had the accelerator all the way down and was still losing speed. Got better on and off...

Probably time to get the injector pump rebuilt, it's dumping too much fuel into the engine. Or, something is clogging the airway. (sound deadening foam, don't laugh, it happened on my Volvo turbo)

It is sometimes hard to start my jetta tdi. When this happens and I finally get it started, qite a bit of thick smoke comes out of the exhaust. Any thoughts?

It is hard starting my VW 2003 Jetta. It usually take 5 to 10 cranking before it turns over. Then it run normally. It only happens when the car has not been driven for about 6 hours.

Rodeo 2006 diesel turbo.loss of power as if little fuel.could it be turbo or injectors

First try replacing the fuel filter and also check the air filter element, if its clogged with dust replace.
After doing all this check the performance of the engine,if its still the same thn time to remove the injector nozzles for service.
The last option would thn be the pump(injector).
Hope this helps!

Lossing power

hi, this problem could be valve stem oil seals these are cheap to buy but will require the top half of the engine been stripped and rebuilt.
If the car has a turbo then you might find that its just a turbo pipe split this is often the case on most cars that have turbo as your is diesel then you should have a turbo. This would be my first choice to get looked at as usually its just a pipe to the turbo has split and this causing the problem your having. Replacing this should not cost to much as it is common problem so look at this first.

Worst case it could be the turbo needs replacing but getting a garage to check this for you is the best bet but hopefully it is just a split pipe going to the turbo.
Most diesel cars with your problem that i have worked on is usually one of the pipes for the turbo has a split in it so replacing this will solve your problem ok.
let me know if you have any problems or questions and ill be glad to assist you ok.
