Will not start. 1995 astrovan will not start. engine turns over as normal, sounds like it is starving for fuel or spark.

    I AM NOT SURE WHAT THE PUMP SOUNDS LOKE WHEN THE ENGINE IN TRYING TO START. I JUST HEAR THE ENGINE.
    THE VAN WAS RUNNING FINE TILL YESTERDAY WHEN IT WOULD NOT START. TURNS OVER, SO NO BATTERY PROBLEM. HOW WOULD I CHECK FOR SPARK? WHERE IS THE FUEL FILTER AND IS IT A CLEAR ONE OR INSIDE A CANISTER?

    could be distributor cap and rotor if no spark. do you hear fuel pump running?

Pull a spark plug wire off at spark plug put another plug in wire lay plug and wire against metal of engine and turn motor over looking at plug for spark. as for pump noise turn key on not to start and listen for whine noise for a couple seconds. if hear whine that is your fuel pump noise. not a clear filter canister about under drivers seat on inside of fram

Check for trouble codes. Battery good? Doe engine crank over at normal speed?
Gas, air, spark, and compression: what the cylinders need to fire. No starts are usually gas or spark related. So check for spark at a spark plug wire end to see if ignition related problem, and check fuel pressure for a gas problem. Do you hear the fuel pump turn on for a couple of seconds when you turn the key to on?

fuel filter or a fuel pump could also be plugs, wires, cap and rotor I would try fuel filter first then take a plug off a cylinder and hold it close to screw driver or something(dont hold unless have rubber to grip to please dont get shocked) if it doesnt spark your not getting spark and try plugs wires cap and rotor if it does spark then open gas lid have someone turn ignition switch on and listen if you here the fuel pump is still good if not replace it. It does sound like a fuel pump

1995 Eagle Summit AWD cranks but won't start...battery, fuel pump, spark plugs replaced ...why? Is the problem the multiport fuel injector relay? Where is this relay located?
Sounds like a timing belt has snapped. If it is an interference engine, the engine could be ruined (pistons hit the valves and bend them). Check gates belts to see if it is an interference engine. Belts normally snap at 80,000 to 120,000 miles.

cap and rotor affect spark so YES... this could be your concern

you need three things to start your car... Fuel, Spark and Compression PLUS they have to be in time

However, the two options you have are very differnt

No spark will not be similar to a broken timing belt

With no spark or no fuel the engine will sound "normal" when cranking

A broken timing belt would present it self as a FAST crank no start concern

Rolls over wont start
could be a number of things......engines need spark fuell and air to run.....one of three in your case is not working correctly
try disconnecting fuel line from engine side of feul sending unit and turn over ....get a bucket it could get messy....if you see fuel then check spark...to check spark leave fuel disconnected....and pull out one plugs leave wire on plug and touch plug threads to ground (anyground..eg..alternator bracket)use vice grips but not too tight ..then turn it over again and see if plug sparks......if spark and fuel are present ....then ur into crank sensors or cam sensors these determine when spark is present.....
