My car idles at 3 and the brake is stiff - 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix

    Check for a vacuum leak to the brake booster. Hose from booster to engine may have cracked or fallen off. Booster itself may have failed. If you block the end of the hose, see if rpm's go back down. (3thousand rpms or 3?)

Sounds like you have a major vacume leak, Chk. line going to break booster. Do you hear a loud hissing or whiseling noise either comming from under the hood or under the dash especily when you apply the break? If under dash could be bad break booster, if under hood still could be booster or a break in the vacume line from engine to booster.

sounds like there is a vacuum leak, a vacuum leak will cause your engine to run lean, that may cause your idle speed to increase, , check the vacuum line that goes from the rear of the engine to the power brake booster, it may be the brake booster as well, ether of these will cause hard braking, hope this helps.

Sounds like you locked up a Caliber on the passenger side? Any pulling to passenger side or after driving for 2 to 3 min's feel the Center of the steel tim where the Lug nuts are on both drivers front and passenger front wheel both should be cool to warm if 1 is hotter then the other you have a stuck brake.

when brakes get stiff can you push down with both legs to get brakes to work? 3 things check vacuum line to brake booster. Brake booster may be about to fail. Replace brake booster and master cylinder.

your power brake booster needs replaced ,it work off engine vacuum and when the seal inside leak there is no power assist for the brakes
