Question about 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix

1 Answer

I have a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. I'm just trying to put the rear view mirror back on. I cannot get the small metal piece off of the entire mirror body to glue to the windshield.

It can be removed using a hammer and a drift. It is essentially a jamb fit with a stop. hard to imagine that you would not pull new piece off when you rehang the mirror on the small metal mount piece.

Be certain to follow directions preciecely! use mirror mount kit, forget all other glues, etc.

My 1998 grand prx gtp I cant put it dive or take out the key what do you think the problem will be

97-03 GP seem to have problems with the key getting stuck. I would try freeing the key first. Remove the lower party of the clam case on the steering column and you'll find a metal circular object that can be pushed up to release the key. On a side note, there is a small plastic piece that fits in there to push that

Most mirrors have a very small allen screw that you have to losen then the mirror will have to be slid up towards the roof of the car and it will slide off the metal piece that is glued to the windshield

I too am having a problem removing the small metal piece from the back of my 2002 pontiac grand prix rear view mirror. It fell off the windshield due to the heat, I'm supposing. It has the Onstar...

It should be the same as the ones from the late 90's. You have 3 pieces there. The metal piece comes out the bottom of the mirror and should have a piece of plastic attached to it. It is a friction fit with the actual mirror so it shouldn't require a lot of hammering or even hard hammering.
Once the mirror is off there should be a small slot in the remaining plastic and metal. Use a small screwdriver or something similar to push in on a clip that is inside and the plastic and metal should separate. Hope this helps.

2000 Pontiac Grand Prix Passenger Side rear view mirror

As the owner of a 2001 Grand Prix GTP I can tell you that the mirror you speak of is not terribly difficult to replace, but you need the tools to remove the inside panels in the front corner of the window to get to it. Once you get that off there should be three bolts/nuts that hold the mirror on and if you have power mirrors then of course you'll have an electrical connector in there as well.

I dont have any instructions wrote up but there is a Grand Prix car club forum you can check that may have some information on how to replace it in more detail. You can go to grandprixforums.net, sign up and post up your problem and Im sure someone there will probably have specific instructions.
