What about services that rebuild the cluster?

  • randykelderm Sep 07, 2009

Do you know if it makes a difference since I have the HUD heads up display?

This seems to be a typical problem for 2004 LeSabre's - won't I likely run into the problem all over again?

  • randykelderm Sep 07, 2009

Did you get the last response - My main concern about buying a used pannel is that this is a common problem for a LeSabre

  • randykelderm Sep 07, 2009

This is a common problem with 2004 LeSabre's buying another used instrument pannel will likely end up bad - I think I need a new one or have this one reworked

Where can I find instructions to remove it?

  • randykelderm Sep 07, 2009

I think this is the best solution thanks

The cluster board is messed up inside, usually it can have a loose solder connetion or even be burnt up. best bet is to get a junk yard cluter or one off ebay.
anymore questions? please gel free to ask.

LeSabre has a very complex electrical system, just by looking at its wiring diagram.

With how you have described the issue, there is a strong possibility that the a fuse is blown or a wire is loose thats why you get the flat or an "acting up" / eratic guage.

Best thing you do is to go to buick site:

http://www.buick.com/

then locate the dealer nearest you, then refer to a certified buick mechanic to have the electrical problem traced and resolved.

The speedometer stopped working, the oil pressure guage works intermittantly, the gas guage is on intermitantly also.

Take your truck to a GM dealer and have the Body Control Module checked. The bcm controls most electrical and display functions inside of your vehicle.

My heads-up display on my 04 grand prix gtp went out! how can i fix this?

I've had to fix both of my HUDs on my two 2004 Grand Prixs. Look down low through the steering wheel to see if the display. Hopefully you can. You can also look through the windshield at th HUD unit. Look at the tension spring and see if it is loose. The problem on my cars was the spring wore through the plastic lever that controls the reflection angle of the HUD. If this is the case, you are in luck. Remove the A-pillar moldings by simply pulling them off. You must then pull up on the plastic dash molding that encases th HUD and runs the entire width of the dash. Remove the screw on the far left side of the dash by your left knee. Pull out the plastic arch molding over the instrument cluster. Unbolt the instrument cluster and pull out enough to get to the screw that holds in the HUD. (There are two screws, one in front and one on top.) Pull out the HUD and unplug. Carefully take the HUD apart. Get some good epoxy or JB weld and fix the plastic lever. You must the drill a hole for the spring or poke a hole through the epoxy as it is setting up. I let mine dry overnight before re assembling everything. The task may sound daunting, but it is not. You should be able to get the HUD out in 20-30 minutes. Hope this helps. Everyone should place sunvisors over their HUDS ALWAYS!

HUD will not light up

If you peek down inside the windshield, you'll probably see the HUD is working. A common issue is that the adjustment spring will break, making the HUD invisible because it is adjusted out of range. The spring can be replaced by removing the cluster then the HUD unit.

Not a Fuse. There are Small Bulbs on the Back of the Guage Cluster that Burn out Occassionally. You will need to Disassemle the Dash and Remove the Guage Cluster to get to these Mini-Bulbs for Replacement. Please Rate my Solution, I need all the Help that I can Get! Thanks!
