2004 blue endeavor paint problem

My blue 2004 endeavor has this same problem with the paint fading. It only has 48,000 miles on it, and I've taken really good care of it. I love my Endeavor and am so disappointed that in this day and age, there would be a problem like this.

Unfortunately, like everyone else has experienced, the dealership just shrugs their shoulders because it's no longer under warranty. I first talked to them a few months ago when the black end caps on my bumpers started fading badly. He checked to see if I was under warranty still, and since I wasn't, just gave the card to a paint shop.

    Thanks for your input though.

This is a common problem with base coat clear coat paint, you may want to take it to the dealer and see if they will do something about it. GM and ford both had a problem with the clear coat fading and actually peeling away. If enough people complain they may do something about it. It has to basically be sanded down and repainted and clear coated again. The only sure way to keep this from happening is using a car cover when it’s in the sun. And blue is one of the worst I have seen for failure. But again it’s worth a shot to go to the dealer and see if there is a recall on the paint. The squeaky wheel gets greased

Go to small claims court and file a small claims against them and show pictures of other cars of that year and you have a chance to win, there is laws covering this and Judges will consider your complaint, if they don't show you win and they pay for it, get three estimates and file the paper work, This is how many automotive problems get fixed when there is a problem don't let it go they are supposed to supply a car that lasts 5 years I can bet yo you will get a response as someone has to report to the court and if it gets out that they don't take care of their costumers it is something they do take serious, also if this helped you please rate, And don't let this go.

Hello. This is due to a poor paint job at the factory. Begin at the dealership and see what if anything will be done. You may still be under warranty. Joje

I replaced my water pump at 90,000 miles. Do I have to replace it again at 180,000? I have 182,000 on my 1998 Honda Accord EX, 5 Speed. Also how long do the clutches last? Also the paint does start fading...

firstly replacement waterpump is not time sensitive, change it when it goes.
the clutch can last from 7seconds,foot rest, to 150k if driven long distances, sometimes longer,
the paint is water based and should be waxed every year to stop it fading too badly,(good maintenance always pays off.....)red/blue are the worse.

2004 endeavor stalls and won't start. If I wait a while I can start and drive it again. Doesn't seem to have any pattern on when it will stall again.

How many miles? What grade fuel are you using? Have you ensured your air filter is clean? Do you get a check engine light? If so, have you taken it to autozone to pull the codes for free?

Yes, I would replace it according to the owner's manual. Could be very expensive if it breaks.

I purchased my Endeavor in 2004, and it has been garage kept since then. This past year I noticed the paint fading really bad on the hood and on top. My dealership nearby where I take my car to get...

I have a 2004 Black Mitsubishi Endeavor with the exact same problem and of course the paint is no longer under warranty. I called 1-888-MITSU2009 (Mon-Fri 8-7 central time). The woman (Mariam) told me to take it to a local Mitsubishi dealer to have the paint inspected. She said they should be able to advise me from there, but if not, call Mitsubishi back and let them know what the dealer said regarding the inspection. I took it to a dealer and had to talk to several different people before they got me to the right one. He looked at it and said it was definitely bad paint. I got a bit lucky because there happened to be a regional Mitsubishi rep. there that day, who also looked at it and said, right there on the spot, that they would take care of it. This was a Friday just a few weeks ago and the following Monday my truck was in a body shop being painted ($4,000 paint job). The Mitsubishi representative told me this seems to be a problem with both black and silver mitsubishi's in and around 2004. Apparantly they are looking at these paint issues case by case, however, I think that is wrong. If you google "bad paint 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor", which I did, you'll be shocked at the number of people with this problem and Mitsubishi hasn't issued some kind of recall. But, they fixed mine. Mileage seems to be a factor, if there is a ton of miles on it they may not cover it. I have 68,700 miles and it was OK. The mitsu rep. also said if it were 1 year older, it probably wouldn't be covered.

Anyway, call the number I posted for you and start there. Its worth the effort - I was ready to get rid of mine, but I like it for one, and wouldn't get much in a trade because of the paint. I also looked into getting it painted - It just looked horrible - all over the hood, roof, down the back lift gate, and some down the doors - horrible. Definitely worth the effort trying with Mitsubishi - saved me $4,000.

Good Luck to You!
