The transmission shift indicator is all in one part, the bulb is likely a led soldered on a circuit board and cannot be replaced alone.

Part number and replacement instructions are detailed on service manual.

Regards.

Where is the transmission dipstick located for a 1997 Rav4 manual shift?

On a manual transmission you will not have a dipstick, there will be 2 plugs on the side of the transmission. the top one, the one closer to the floor of the vehicle, is the level. You pull the plug and add fluid to the hole until it is to that level, or a slight amount comes back out as you add it.

How to replace the light bulb under neath the gear shift?

There should be some screws to remove the outside cover of the gear shift. Then the shift indicator P,R, N, D, etc should snap off. Then there is the light bulb housing underneath that indicator.

My Toyota rav4 1997 has a light on, the light that indicates the handbrake is on and also for low brake fluid but I've checked the fluid level and there is little difference to the max, i have seen that...

Remove the 2 wire connector at the master switch and jump it , light goes away the problem is the sensor at the master switch, solution replace brake master cylinder.Light still on , do the same with the switch located in the lower part of the parking brake handle goaes away replace switch, still there inspect wiring for shot, start in the brake light harness, also check the bulbs .

What is the ECT power button for on the 1997 rav4

The ECT button (which stands for "Electronically Controlled Transmission")
changes the shift points for the automatic transmission. When engaged,
the transmission shifts later, allowing the engine to get to a higher
power level and accelerate faster. Gas mileage is usually reduced in
this mode. Use it when you need to get up to speed faster; for example,
to merge into fast moving traffic. The normal position for this switch
is OFF. ECT acts like a turbo. Now dont go on street racing ;)

1997 Rav 4 auto transmission, will not shift out of park unless I remove cover and depress solenoid with a pen. At the same time, a fuse for the rear tail lights and interior and dome lights was burnt out....

The problem is likely in your lighting circuit.Just to be sure, check the amperage rating on the new fuse-make certain it is the right fuse for that spot. Then, install another fuse, and step on the brake,no other lights on.If it shifts have some one make sure the brake lamps work,if the fuse blows before you shift(listen for the pop) you have a short in the brake lamp circuit or a bad bulb. Not sure which bulb? they're cheap-replace them both! Good luck
