Try spraying wd40 straight in the lock with a spray tube and a rag. Then shove your key in out of key hole then repeat several times. hopefully dirt and grime comes out of lock and releases tumblers in lock in turn hopefully letting you key do its job.
What it could be ? Do you have a lot of keys on the ignition key ring? Something else that weighs more than the normal? This will wear the keyway on the switch over time and could case the problem you have, requiring the column switch to have to be replaced,Try to see if a Ford Dealer can cut you a new key.Good Luck.
Hi TK,
This happens every once in a while when there is stress on the steering lock plate. Which ever direction the wheels are pointed, turn the steering a little more in the same direction while at the same time turning the key.
Taking the pressure off releases the ignition enough to turn the key.
Best regards
Mike
