If you follow the cable there will be a turn buckle at some point turn it until the slack is correct it is most likely under the vehicle before the two cables meet usually halfway down the body or directly under the driver seat along the frame

Hi how do you adjust the hand brake on a 2004 jeep cherokee extreme sport

Once you have removed the center console, you should be able to see the base of the hand brake. There should be a bold which you can adjust to tighten or loosen the cable. While at it take time to check for the condition of the cable. Check for wear and have it replaced. Adjustment of the handbrake may work for a while with a damage cable but may break when you least expected.

How do you replace the parking brake cable on a 1993 Chrysler New Yorker after replacing the brake shoes and rear wheel cylinder

Generally you should not have to replace the parking brake cable. It should have an adjustment to give more slack or takle up slack as needed. Get a Haynes manual (around $20 at autozone) for your car. It will tell you how to adjust the parking brake cable and/or how to replace the cable if that is needed. In most cases it is just an adjustment that is needed

How do i adjust the handbrake on my mx3 its the 1.8 v6 with rear disc brakes

theres only two places a adjustment would be the easest way is to lift your handbrake three clicks either under the handle you will see a nut on a threaded bolt turn the nut in until the slack makes tighten hard dont over tighten push button drop handle back down now if the adjustment nut is not under the handle under the car you will see your rear cables going into a single cable all three joined by a adjustment bolt with nut hold with pliers three clicks up on handle turn nut in till slack is gone drop handle back down

How to adjust handbrake cables.

Under the console, the single cable to the handle joins to an equalizer which connects to the two cables going to the rear brakes. There is no adjustment in that area. The adjustment to the cable doesn't exist. Each rear parking brake is adjusted in drag only.

Chrysler voyager drum brakes excess hand brake travel no adjuster how can a take up slack

i had the same problem with my crysler voyager 1997,a friend of mine who is a mechanic found the problem,it is a self adjuster on the handbrake itself, once drums are adjusted up you need to go to your hanbrake area and you will find a white plastic clip on the bottom of the lever ,once removed you pull up your handbrake a few times and it self adjusts, then put the plastic clip back on,this soved my problem,by doing this my handbrake went from about 13 clicks on max to hold . to about 6 clicks and held perfectly
