Question about 1999 Volkswagen Passat

1 Answer

Door locked, from inside and out

I was fixing my power window on my 1999 Passat.I already had problems opening my drivers door, with a pull from inside and a push from outside was the only way to open it. Had to use my window constantly to do that. Now my window is ok but my door is now permanently locked. Pushing or pulling wont solve it anymore. I opened the panel from inside and was able to disconnect the window, but dont know what to do next. Please help.

Sounds as if the door latch may be too far in causing this to UN open if you can understand that try pushing against the door and allowing someone else to work the door handle just trying to relieve the pressure a if you manage to open the door , readjust the door striker bolt as well as lubricate the lock ,otherwise remove the window completely so you wont break it while working on the door latch from inside the vehicle are all the linkages still connected ? try lubricating the lock latch as well it can be a pain but if you are patient enough you can get the door to release if and when you do remove the screws and linkages to the lock and remove and either replace or clean the latch itself and oil it good work it by hand a dozen times to ensure the working lock itself then when your confident it is working replace it and reverse method to reinstall

Cadillac escalade 1999 driver side door wont open

Oh well, hey, if you got the panel off, you've already accomplished the near impossible! And no thanks to safelite, very rude of them. The bars or rods should be able to be pushed or pulled to ...open door latch, or work locks. Is that the kind of bars you mean? If so, find the door lock and get that unlocked, then the door. If it isn't like I picture it, get a good ole Cadillac person to open it for you!

Power windows not working on a 99 Passat

Hi,

The door panel comes off with a T-10 torx or a Hex (Allen) wrench that will fit and a large Philips Screw Driver.. Remove the Plastic cover on the inside Door handle and the screw or screw along the bottom of the door panel. Then remove the screws that hold the handle the the door. They are located behind the plastic plate you removed with a tiny screw driver earlier. Be careful not the mark up the cover whaytprying it up. It is best to pry from underneath. After this 4 screws are out . The Use of a clip tool is best for getting behind the panel to pop it off, screw driver will work. After all the clips are released. Pull the light at the bottom of the panel down and out. Disconnect it or push it back thought the hole it came from. Now you need a 10mm socket, or wrench to remove the 12 bolts that hold the metal plate to the door. Remove all the 10mm bolts, if the window has not already fallen in the door it should be released by removing the black 2" plugs. Then loosen the bolts that clamp the window with the arms. Do not loosen them all the way.Disconect all the wiring. The Door lock cable, can be a pain. I think it pulls down.Next remove the metal plate, that is the regulator. Reverse these steps again to install it.

thank you !!

I CAN'T GET MY GAS FLAP TO OPEN TO GET GAS.ANY SOLUTIONS?

I had the same problem with my 1999 Passat, whose power lock switch was also not working. It seems that when the mechanic fixed the power lock switch this also resolved the issue with the fuel flap.

Until I had this done, I had to do what goeffreyh above said, pull the upholstery in the trunk aside and pull back on the plastic tab to open the fuel door manually.

Passenger side rear door only opens from inside.

It sounds like the linkage connecting the door handle to the latch has disengaged....you'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. You can then pull off the weather seal in order to see the inside of the door....

1999 Volkswagen passat window doesn't work has power to it and td

THis is common Too common. As I posted before.

As I posted in the Passat questions.

The jetta may slightly differ.

Yes. If your window has fallen down and will not roll up.
99% Chance you car is suffering the Infamous VW plastic clip.

The door panel comes off With a T-10 torx or a Hex (Allen) wrench
that will fit and A large Philips Screw Driver..

Remove the Plastic cover on the inside Door handle.
And the Screw or Screw along the Bottom of the door panel.
Then remove the screws that hold the handle the the door.
They are located behind the Plastic plate you removed with a tiny screw driver earlier... Be careful not the mark up the cover whaytprying it up. It is best to pry from underneath. Where marks if made can not be seen

After the screws are out 4 I believe. The Use of a CLip tool ir best.
For getting behind the panel to pop it off. A screw driver will work.

After all the clips are released. Pull the light at the bottom of the panel down and out. Disconnect it ur push it back thought the hole it came from..

Now you need a 10mm socket, or wrench to remove the 12 bolts that hold the metal plate to the Door. Remove all the 10mm bolts, If the widow has not already fallen in the door. It should be released. By removing the Black 2" plugs. THe loosen the bolts that clamp the window the the arms. DO NOT LOOSEN THEM ALL the way, .
Disconect the all the wiring.. THe Door lock cable, can be a pain.
I think it pulls down,.
Next remove the Metal plate. that is the regulator.

reverse to install

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door
