Hello,

I have a 2003 Chevy Cavalier. The HVAC airflow dial only works on high setting. We checked the fuse and it's o.k.

What now?  Any estimate as to repair cost?

Thank you

SOURCE: Blower on my 2004 Chev Colorado only works on high setting #4.

You need a resistor pack, which is likely located in the air box, near the blower motor.

SOURCE: 1998 Ford Expedition Fan Blower Resistor Location

It should be located on the blower motor housing under the right side of the dash, it will have wiring connector and 2 screws holding it in.

It's the resistor. You can replace the part for around $40 or repair the part for around $2. Prevent the part from failing again be refurbishing your blower motor. Here are two videos showing you how to accomplish this...

Cool fan low doesn't work. Doesn't appear to be

It needs to have the blower motor resistor card replaced.
It still works on high speed because on the high setting the voltage does not go through the resistor.
The resistor is mounted beside the blower motor and is easy to replace.
There you are, thank you for using FixYa.

Fan on c3 will only work on no 4 setting 1 2 3 not working any ideas

these systems use a resistor pack, setting 1 2 3 go through resistors to vary fan speed, 4 is fast speed-- no resistor in circuit. don't know where it is located but usualy in aplace it can get cool air, try follow the wires back from the fan motor to the switch.

Fan was working, just stopped while driving.Had it on the 4 setting 2003 explorer I can't even figure out from the manual which fuse to check

this is not a fuse problem, u have a fan speed voltage dropping resistor failure most likely, on the resistor is a thermal limiter fuse that fuse is blown, it is only sold as part of the resistor, if u jump 12 volts to the fan motor and it works then replace the resistor. the fan motor and the resistor are right next to eachother under the hiood on the passenger side under the hood.

Heater fan only works on fastest speed

Your blower motor resistor has gone bad, it should be located next to your blower motor in the car, held in place with a couple of screws, remove it and replace it. The resistor is responsible for making the blower motor run at slower speeds than high or (4). Let me know if this helps.

Vent fan only works when set to 4

Hi.....
On your Vehicle the problem for the FAN speed is NOT the FAN switch.
99.9 % of this problem on cars is the BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR.
The blower motor resistor give the speed to the Fan.
But on High speed the switch make a By pass of the switch using a Relay for the high speed.
The Blower motor resistor, is located Beside of the Blower motor On the passanger compartment.

If you replace the blower motor resistor you have 99.9% of this will solve your problem.

I'm a Mechanic.

I hope this help on your problem.
Thank you for use fixya...
