Question about 2000 Ford Ranger SuperCab

Open Question

Transmission My 2000 Ranger 4X4 (85000 easy miles) has developed a clanging sound when slowing down to stop. It doesn't happen all the time. I'm guessing it's coming from the transmission (automatic) as it down shifts. I have checked the transmission fluid which was at it's proper level. The fluid dosen't smell burnt and looks ok. From stop to 50mph the transmission shifts properly and seems normal. Its only when slowing to a stop. Any ideas? Thank you

IF you mean that it is not down shifting when slowing or stopping then it is time to have it serviced. This could be a solenoid that is hanging up.

2000 Ford ranger 3.0 L automatic granny will barley move in reverse but drives good in forward gears what would cause this?

My automatic granny doesn't move that fast either. It sounds as though your reverse gear is going out, the only thing I can suggest is taking it to a transmission repair shop... sorry =(

2003 Highlander 6 cyl. 109,000 Miles Excellent Care and Condition Sometimes, not always, when I am slowing down and about ready to stop I hear a clunk sound from underneath, like from the transmission....

after 100,000 miles you have wear in the transmission and rear end gears and bearings, it is not normal but it is not a real problem that can cause a breakdown, to fix this you could spend upwards of $3000.00, so in my opinion just live with it.

When slowing down & stopping 2005 Mazda tribute sputters and dies

Sounds like it could possibly be a vaccume problem, the computer sees that the vaccume has a low pressure and thus fludding the engine, or visa versa, it's seeing too high of a pressure and cutting the fuel comsumption to a minumum enough to make the engine sputter and die.. Does this happen when the cars in Netural or Reverse or Park? Just Drive?

Transmission shift points are controlled by the vehicle computer. Take your Grand Cherokee to a Jeep/Chrysler dealer to have the computer checked and possibly update the computer firmware.

2000 NISSAN SENTRA , SEEMS TO BE STUCK IN A GEAR

Sounds like a bad overdrive clutch, it's in the torque converter and is not repairable, you have to replace the torque converter, this is somewhat common on high mileage automatics, usualy it sticks locked, when you put it in gear it makes a clang and unlocks, but locks up as you drive and won't unlock when you slow down like it's supposed to

sounds like this one simply will not go into gear at all, either the clutch is worn out (They're vry small snd weak) or possibly a sticking valve body.

this needs to go to the dealership garage, NEVER go to Mr Transmission type places they'll want to overhaul it whatever's wrong, they don't waste time on diagnosis

On my 2000 blazer. every time i hit the gas pedal i here a clanging noise, and if i hit the breaks hard i here the same clanging noise. what could this be??

Sounds like something loose is swinging with the stop and go momentum. Look underneath for something loose, like exhaust. Have someone listen close by while you drive it slow in forward and reverse, to try to pin point it.
