A/C builds up too much pressure and pops off high pressure relief Valve Is it possible I got a defective new expansion valve?

I could be, but doubtfull. It does sound like you have an obstruction in the system, or a bad valve in the compresor. I would flush the system to see were the blockage is.

Simply it's a valve in a refrigeration system that controls or meters how much coolant is allowed into the evaporator.
A thermal expansion valve (often abbreviated as TEV, TXV, or TX valve) is a component in refrigeration and air conditioning systems that controls the amount of refrigerant flow into the evaporator thereby controlling the superheating at the outlet of the evaporator. Thermal expansion valves are often referred to generically as "metering devices".
A thermal expansion valve is a key element to a heat pump; the cycle that makes air conditioning, or air cooling, possible. A basic refrigeration cycle consists of four major elements, a compressor, a condenser, a metering device and an evaporator. As a refrigerant passes through a circuit containing these four elements, air conditioning occurs. The cycle starts when refrigerant enters the compressor in a low pressure, low temperature, gaseous form. The refrigerant is compressed by the compressor to a high pressure-and-temperature gaseous state. The high pressure-and-temperature gas then enters the condenser. The condenser precipitates the high pressure-and-temperature gas to a high pressure liquid by transferring heat to a lower temperature medium, usually ambient air. The high pressure liquid then enters the expansion valve where the TX valve allows a portion of the refrigerant to enter the evaporator. In order for the higher temperature fluid to cool, the flow must be limited into the evaporator to keep the pressure low and allow expansion back into the gas phase. The TXV has sensing bulbs connected to the suction line of the refrigerant piping. The sensing bulbs give temperature readings to the TXV to adjust flow of refrigerant.[2]

Cant find the valve to let air pressure from my radiator for my water to flow right

Jetta 1990 digifant II no oil pressure at all not even a smidge checked with manual oil guage to the head. wouldnt a bad pump still pump. what about pressure relief valve?


Sounds to me like your looking for a new motor . If the pump is so bad as to have no pressure it either has high mileage or broken internal parts jamming it. A non-working pressure relief valve is almost always the result of crud build up, also not good. If that valve is full of crud chances are pretty good so is the rest of the motor resulting in poor circulation and excessive wear. You may get lucky when you open up the motor and find something simple like a sheared pin at the oil pump drive but I wouldn't count on it unless this is a sudden problem and you had good pressure all along.

either the oil pressure sender is defective or the pressure relief ball valve in the oil pump is sticking, my money would be on the oil pump pressure relief valve ball sticking.

A/c compressor runs with dash switch off then loses freon from relief valve


we can solve this, but i need more info, a/c compressor should not run with the dash switch to off, so there could be a short in the switch or something is powering your a/c compressor.

another thing is the gas being relieve to your relief valve, your condenser fan could not be running there by creating a high head pressure to relieve on the relief valve or the valve could be open already and not the type where it seats back if the pressure is already low.

are you just putting gas right now as these things happens?

if so, you could have a clogged in your system, building a high head pressure to relieve in the valve.

the clogged could be in the filter dryer, or the expansion valve inside the evaporator coil.
