Dec 25, 2018 - fuel pump relay in my 94 t4r v6 at is bad. toyota wants \\\ for it. seeing ... with the relay out the truck wont go into 4x4. so what i want to do is figure ...
There is no tensioner the pump swivels to tighten the belt, theres a bolt at the top and the bottom of the pump to loosen it, then pry the pump foward to release the tension of the belt.alot of these toyotas have an adjustment bolt on the top bracket that needs to be loosened to release the tension so take a look when loosening the top bolt.
Need to know which model sedan you have, CE, LE, XLE, and which motor you have 2.2 4 cyl or 3.0 V6, also email address to send diagram/instructions to replace your water pump, no they are pretty easy to replace.
NO your best bet is to remove both heads and send them away for crack testing and surface grinding plus make sure the block has a flat and clean serface ,no water holes eaten away and near to the cylinder bores, if all ok then get the heads done and tighten down to correct tension which you will get on the VRS (valve regrind set). then it will last for years
only 2 bolts. They are hard to get to at the back of the engine but one is the mounting one and the other is the locking one for the adjuster once you get them lose you can undo the adjuster bolt and take tension off of belt then pull it off and replace it.
1. Remove the alternator & power steering pump drive belts.
2. Remove four (4) 10mm bolts holding the water pump pullys & remove the pullys.
3. Drain the Radiator (save coolant if intend to reuse).
4. Loosen & remove AC compressor belt.
5. Remove crankshaft pully (22mm bolt).
6. Remove lower timing belt cover (10 mm bolts) to access water pump bolts.
7. Remove the water pump (12mm bolts) (1)Remove the 2 bolts, then remove the alternator brace (A).(2)Remove the water pump (B) and gasket.
8. Clean mating surface on engine & install new gasket & pump - reassemble. Refill w/50-50 coolant.
