Question about 1994 Mazda 626

1 Answer

94 mazda 2.0 engine 626 won't start.

Got into vehicle. Started engine. Engine stalled when accelarated. Had to have vehicle towed home. Check of EGR valve showed rusted out. Replaced EGR valve. Started engine, still won't accelarate. Replaced distributor. Same problem. Vehicle being setting for two months. Now it won't start at all. Fuel in line to injectors. Spark at plugs wire. Vehicle timing and belt checked ok. Connected jumper cables to battery to aid in starting. Engine spins to the point as if it is about to catch but no start. I have read about grounding problem or ECM bad. Any help will be appreciated. Vehicle engine ran great until this incident.

I sprayed WD-40 into the throttle body intake. Heard what sound like vacuum during the starting. It kicked but no start. The fuel pump will not run when ignition is turned on. So I jumped the fuel pump VIA diagnostic location. I checked for voltage at the injectors. There is voltage at each. I don't know what the voltage should be but it was the same at all of them. Fuel come out of the fuel regulator valve when I jumped the fuel pump.

I changed the fuel regulator and checked fuel pump pressure by jumping at diagnois link. Gage showed 60 psi. The fuel pump will not run went ignition switch is turn on. It will only work by jumping. Fuel comes out of the return line when I disconect it. I changed ECM and throttle body purchased at junk yard. Still stumbles like it going to start but no start.

Try spraying a shot of WD-40 into throttlebody intake, and see if it kicks over for second. If it does, you've got a fuel delivery problem. Let us know what happens.

Have you checked the fuel pressure? It sounds like a bad fuel pump.

Mazda 626 (1994) Random intermittant stalling

The first thing you need done here is to have the dealer or a shop scan the ECM (computer) for fault codes, this could be just a defective electronic engine control sensor like a crankshaft sensor or a defective ICM (ignition module). So before you do anything else have the scan done with the special scan tool required.

I had the same problem with my dodge neon. Its your transmission slipping. My car had to have all the transmission flushed and it helped alot, but the longer you let it go, the damage could be permanent.

1991 Mazda 626 DX dies suddenly after running for 10 minutes.

Hello, It sounds like an engine ignition control module gone out or a coil. They get hot and quit working after a short period of time, cool off then work again till they get hot.
Is the ignition system pointless electronic or does it have points? Are you getting any fire at all now to the cylinders? Does the tach in the vehicle show any RPM's during cranking? Do you have voltage at the positive side of the ignition coil? Does the coil meet the ohm ratings for that years vehicle ignition? Does the vehicle have oil in it so the oil pressure sensor allows the engine to run, this may not be an option on your particular vehicle? You can check most of this out with a volt/ohm meter. Check your voltages before starting the vehicle, during running and after it quits to see where the loss is. Just don't get near the center tap of the coil or you will get a rude awakening and/or serious injury. Good luck, RAC
