If you cranked the engine with the belt not turning/off you have bent the engine's valves, not a home repair now, sorry this is what is called an "INTERFERENCE ENGINE".

Most of the time accessory belts are changed along with timing components. If the belt was bad already they should have changed it or called her to say it was bad. I'd think this one should be on the house - either they reinstalled a bad belt or improperly installed a good one.

I have to chancge my nisan quest timing belt

This is a difficult job and you should probably have a pro do it. Don't mean to discourage, just save you some grief in the long run. If you have a lot of experience and want to try it, this is probably the best site to check out:

I need to change the timing belt on my 1996 toyota hilux pickup. Do I need to get the tensioner bearing and spring? The vehicle is old but has just turned 60,000 miles. Is it a difficult job and how long...

A good farm bodger is a breed around here that is as respected as a good circus or fairground hand - a sort of civilian infantryman. Many core skills are absent but tenacious, versatile and full of problem-solving intelligence...

Being a Toyota the job probably won't be any more difficult than it needs to be but I can't access my vehicle data from here so I can't tell you the standard time.
I suggest you allow at least a half-day but avoid giving yourself a deadline in case more parts are needed.

Lots of repairers change the tensioner/idler wheels every time the belt is changed and if the waterpump is driven by the timing belt they tend to replace that too but what I replace depends on the vehicle history and a close inspection of the parts. I don't subscribe to or approve of taking full advantage of every profit opportunity.

Haynes manuals do have a spanner code for the difficulty of each job - worth a look!

An aftermarket timing belt kit would probably be cheaper than just an OE belt. If you discover an excessive amount of dust it could indicate a belt that isn't running true or worn sprockets. The source of any oil contamination should be fixed if possible.

How to Replace timing belt.

Best to have a professional mechanic take a look at it as there could be damage to the pistons, crank etc. It will be become expensive only if there is damage to any of these.

1997 dodge avenger 2.0, belt squealing

The Power Steering Belt tension requires adjustment, to give it more tension, to cure the slipping, resulting in the squealing, or perhaps renewal, due to cracking or excessive wear.

Your Power steering Belt, belt is your primary problem.

Good Luck !

Replace timing belt slapping against plastic cover

No way I can guide you through a belt replacement without re-writing a manual. If you've ever done a chain before, its the same stuff, just a belt instead of chain. Make sure tension is correct and that timing (index) marks on cam & crank pulleys are aligned properly. If you find any oil leaks in there, fix them before replacing belt. Get a manual... The job itself isn't that difficult, but is time consuming.
