there is no quick fix for a timing belt, it took me and a friend who is a mechnic 2 days to fix it. a lot of cleaning parts reset timing and even to get to it u got to take of power steering pump, timing belt housing, front tire for a bit of more room, the alternator and like i said cleaning all parts like pully and housing is very important, cant have any dirt or u just end up redoing it all over oh and replacing all seals is very important too. :).

Its a 93 toyota celica it stopped runnin while driving. i towed it home when i tried to start it, it cranked like twice as fast as usual and wont fire.

your timing belt may have snapped!! When this happens, there is no compression preventing the engine to start up. Because there is no compression, the engine spines easily. Remove upper timing belt cover and inspect the belt. If broken, replace the water pump belt and tensioner pulley $400-$650 job!!

93 toyota celica gt. Engine turns over but wont spark.plugs new wires and cap and rotor good put ohms meter on coil and secondary output and is in specified range but have no power to coil.changed ignitor...

I'm going to guess TIMING BELT. Fairly common with this engine. Thankfully, they are a "NON-interference" motor so it didn't do any damage when the belt snapped. Just need to replace it. Should cost around $300-$400 depending on where you are. Good luck!

Will a broken timing belt on an 83 toyota celica

The Toyota Celica Supra has the 5M-GE engine which is NON-interference motor. The worst a broken belt will do is leave you stranded.

How to set a timing belt

Factory timing for all 90-93 normally aspirated Celicas (ST, GT, and GT-S) is 10º before top dead center (BTDC). This means when the crankshaft angle of the number one cylinder reaches 10º, the spark plug will fire. It fires before it reaches top dead center (TDC) because the flame front takes time to fully combust and push the piston downward. this site might help u .http://www.toyotacelicaonline.com/timing.htm
